On the evening of November 12, 2022, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and the Vietnam Association of Architects jointly held the awarding ceremony for the “Hanoi Public Art Design 2022” and “Dream House 2021 – 2022” (3rd time) design contests. The event was held with attendance of the following delegates: Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Member, Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports; Mr. Phan Dang Son, Chairman of Vietnam Association of Architects; Mr. Hoang Thuc Hao, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Association of Architects; Mr. Hoang Quoc Viet, Head of Culture and Arts Department, Propaganda Department of the City Party Committee; Mr. Pham Tuan Long, Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee; Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Han, Culture Department, UNESCO Office in Hanoi; Mr. Le Dai Nghia, Representative of UN-Habitat Vietnam, representatives of universities working in the fields of architectural design, interior design, fine art, culture, including: University of Industrial Fine Arts, University of Architecture, Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture, etc. with the participation of many architects, designers and activists in creative fields. This is an activity within the framework of Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2022.

Hanoi Public Art Design 2022” is one of activities of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2022, which was held under the direction of Hanoi People’s Committee and Vietnam Association of Architects (Architects), Department of Culture and Sports Sports Hanoi, Architecture Magazine (Vietnam Association of Architects) in collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlement Program (UN-HABITAT), Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee, Universities teaching majors of architecture design, interior design, fine art, culture, etc. (including Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Hanoi University of Architecture, University of Industrial Fine Arts, Hanoi National University, University of Hanoi University of Science and Technology).
Launched on August 25, 2022, the contest is one of the activities aiming to implement the commitments with UNESCO including: nurturing young talents of Hanoi, developing a network of young designers when Hanoi joins UNESCO network of creative cities, contributing to promotion of creative design activities in the community, increasing access to safe and green public space, bringing creative ideas and practices closer to the general public. This event also promotes multi-stakeholder cooperation to create a youth-centered environment in the creative industries, seeking investors to bring the creative ideas to life and building creative spaces not only for Hanoi in particular but also for Vietnam in general.
The contest aims to support young people to participate in building strategic visions and action plans for Hanoi – Creative city through experience sharing workshops, consultation workshops, meetings, etc. At the same time, the contest aims at digital or digital design solutions to bring excellent creative works to the public widely and to quickly connect young creative centers nationally as well as internationally.
After more than 3 months of launching, the contest has received 104 entries from students and young designers across the country. The jury selected 6 best options corresponding to 6 awards as follows: 01 Breakthrough Idea Award (30 million VND); 01 Best Application Innovation Idea Award (20 million VND); 01 Best Innovative Technology Idea Award (20 million VND); 03 New creative ideas Awards (15 million VND).
Based on the evaluation of the Jury, the design options clarify their ideas, and the volume of dossiers shows the enthusiastic and serious research of the young creative groups.

– The Breakthrough Creative Idea Award belongs to the KD023 project of the Authors’ Group including; Bui Van Hieu, Au Thai Son, Duong Thi Tra My, Hoang Anh, Nguyen Long Vu – Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.
– The Best Creative Idea Award for Application belongs to the PP123 – Hanoi in Hanoi of the Author: Doan Phi Long – Hanoi University of Architecture.
– The Breakthrough Creative Idea Award belongs to the KNBN9 project of the Authors’ Group including Nguyen Vo Kieu Ngan; Dang Dinh Bich Ngan – Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture.

“Dream House” design contest was jointly held by the Architecture Magazine – Vietnam Association of Architects and Vietnam Young Architects Club under Vietnam Association of Architects. The contest is a meaningful and attractive playground for a large number of architects and architecture students nationally and internationally over the years.
The 3rd “The Dream House “ Contest themed “Personality of Living Space” aims to emphasize the search and encouragement of creative and unique design ideas in Residential architecture, promoting new approaches to functionality on the basis of traditional values, exploiting new technologies and materials to make the home a safe – peaceful – creative place to live.
In particular, the period 2020 – 2022, when COVID deeply affects each of our lives, leading to many changes in design perspective in the formation of living spaces.
The contest is also an opportunity to connect suppliers with architects, investors and residents, create a bridge in the design and construction of Residential projects, and contribute to creating the convenient, modern, and distinctive residential projects that contributing to improving people’s life quality in the new period.
After the launch, the Organizing Committee received 114 entries from architects and architecture students across the country, of which 55 were entries from the professional category and 59 entries from the semi-professional category. The Jury of “Dream House” design contest evaluated and selected the winning participants for each category.
According to the Jury, all applications of this year contest have a good quality. Professional category meets the competition criteria, the works focus on creative solutions in modern architectural trends, promoting new approaches to functionality, on the basis of inheriting traditional values, combined with exploiting new technology and materials to make the home a truly safe – peaceful – creative place. The semi-professional category has improved and aligned quality, students are serious and professional in their performance.
In the spirit of fairness and democracy, the Jury selected 18 best entries for the voting round from 00:00 on November 5, 2022 to 18:00 on November 9, 2022.

After the awards ceremony of two contests, there were art programs named “Waves”, with the participation of nearly 50 actors with special performances. It included the Experimental Dance “Silk Wave” – Using light through silk bands to dance with experimental lights and music, and Vietnamese fashion ins of Van Thien Y periods; “Kham Thien Pho” dance play – The old story is told with modern materials combining dance instead of words to tell about the pastime of Hanoians from the past to the present and finally the Fashion performance: O+ boutique by designer Cuong Nguyen with the collection “Hoa Tam”.
