On December 24, 2022, at the Hanoi Museum, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports held the third Hanoi Ca Tru Festival – 2022.
The festival had the participation of 13 Ca Tru groups and clubs in Hanoi: Ca Tru Group of FPT University Hanoi, Hanoi Ca Tru Club, Chanh Thon Ca Tru Club, Lo Khe Ca Tru Club, and Thieu Xuong Ca Tru Club, Ha Thanh Ca Tru Club, Xuan Dinh Ca Tru Club, Vietnam Music Development Center Ca Tru Club, Thuong Mo Ca Tru Club, Ngai Cau Ca Tru Club, Hoa Huu Ca Tru Club, Thang Long Ca Tru Club, Dong Tru Ca Tru Club and 04 free candidates.

Contestants participating in the Festival between the ages of 5 and 83 years old come from Ca Tru clubs in the city or live freely. The total number of people participating in the Festival (including those who support the contestants’ exams) is more than 140 people. This year, in addition to the general awarding criteria for costumes, performance space, harmony, and specific criteria for each contest category, special attention is also given to each category. Accordingly, the criteria of proper manners are always promoted with all categories. This year’s festival continues to have the classification of contestants by age to have the fairest assessment.
Appraisal Board
The Board to appraise the performances attending the Festival includes: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Binh Dinh, Former Director of the Vietnam National Institute of Music, Senior Lecturer at Vietnam National Academy of Music – Chairman of the Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoanh Loan, Former Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Institute of Music – Vice Chairman of the Council; People’s Artist Thanh Hoai, Former actor of Vietnam Cheo Theater – Member; Meritorious Artist Nguyen Van Khue, Border Guard Artist Member; Dr. Pham Thi Lan Anh, Head of Cultural Heritage Management Department – Member.
Groups and clubs brought to the Festival 56 performances. According to the evaluation of the Appraisal Board, the performances participating in this year’s Festival have rich and diverse topics. Groups and clubs participated enthusiastically in the Festival and practiced seriously. The good news is that there are performances performed by 3 generations in 1 family…
Awarded the First Prize to 06 individuals
At the end of the festival, the Organizing Committee awarded certificates and bonuses to the winning teams and individuals. In which, the collective A prize was awarded to the Lo Khe Ca Tru Club; The collective B prize was awarded to the Chanh Thon Ca Tru Club; The collective C prize was awarded to Ha Thanh Ca Tru Club. Individual A prize under 18 years old was awarded to Ta Gia Huy (praise drums, Ca Tru Club of Vietnam Music Development Center), Nguyen Ha My (Talented Ca Nuong, free candidate); The A prize for individuals over 18 years old was awarded to: Nguyen Thi Hong Tam (talented singer, free contestant), Nguyen Ba Hanh (talented Kep instrument, Hanoi Ca Tru Club); Nguyen An Khanh (talented “Kep dan”, Freelance Contestant); Hoang Anh Thai Phuong (Talented singer, Thieu Xuong Ca Tru Club). The youngest contestant award was given to the 5-year-old dance group of the Lo Khe Ca Tru Club. The oldest contestant award was given to Mr. Dang Van Phu (“kep dan”, born in 1939, Xuan Dinh Ca Tru Club). The Contribution Award was given to People’s Artist Bach Van (born in 1958, Hanoi Ca Tru Club).
The third Hanoi Ca Tru Festival- 2022 was a great success, thereby continuing to contribute to encouraging and promoting Ca Tru teaching and practicing activities at the grassroots level, and at the same time discovering and fostering Ca Tru talents’ ability of many ages and promote propaganda and promotion to the masses about Ca Tru – an intangible cultural heritage that needs urgent protection, thereby in order to preserve and promote Ca Tru intangible cultural property in Hanoi.
