A Goodwill Ambassador for Japanese cherry blossom festival 2019 not only has knowledge of and interest in Japan and Japan – Vietnam relationship and Japanese speaking ability, but also has participated in Vietnam – Japan friendship exchange activities as a Goodwill Ambassador.
Unmarried Vietnamese women who were 18 – 28 years old and live in Hanoi are eligible to apply for the selection, which will last from 20/02/2019 to 12/3/2019. Final night of the contest included 15 contestants on the evening of 28 March in Dai Nam Theatre.
In the final night of the competition, 15 contestants will take examinations: Knowledge and Vietnamese traditional long-dress (Ao Dai) show. Top 5 contestants will answer final questions in Vietnamese and Japanese. At the end of the competition, the Organizers will select the first Goodwill Ambassador and the second Goodwill Ambassador to promote two countries’ festivals and traditional cultures.
Previously, Top 15 contestants will participate in volunteer activities; visit, encourage and offer gifts to the elderly at the Elderly Care Center at Bach Nien Thien Duc (Soc Son, Hanoi) and learn about Japanese culture and cultural exchange….
Mr. Le Xuan Son, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper which supported and give advices to select Japanese Cherry Blossom Goodwill Ambassador 2019, said that the selection of the Goodwill Ambassador will find out the beauty miss having cultural knowledge; so, appearance criteria were not decisive. However, with participation of the Examiners who are prestigious and experienced in selecting the beauty miss, the Organizers hoped to select the beauty miss who are harmonious in both appearance and cultural knowledge.

Mr. To Van Dong – Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports said “This is the fourth time the Cherry Blossom Festival is held in Hanoi, and every year, the Organizers find newness and attractiveness for the people. In 2019, in addition to performing traditional art programs of Japan and Vietnam, the display of flowers is also a content of interest. The Organizers has invited artisans to decorate and display the flowers at the Festival to create attractions for each year. And a very new content in the Festival 2019 is that the Organizing Committee will select the Cherry Blossom Ambassador to bridge the cultural exchange and strengthen the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general, between Hanoi and Tokyo in particular ”.

“Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival – Hanoi 2019 hosted by Hanoi People’s Committee and Japanese Embassy in collaboration with International Progress Corporation (AIC) will be held from 29/3/2019 to 31/3/2019 in Ly Thai To Flower Garden, Hoan Kiem District”, informed Mr. To Van Dong – Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports at the press conference.
After 3 years of being organized in Ly Thai To Flower Garden, Vietnam – Japan Cherry Blossom Festival has attracted a lot of the Capital people and visitors. This year’s festival will also have diverse and rich activities. The opening ceremony will take place at 20:00 on March 29 at Ly Thai To Flower Garden with Japan – Hanoi traditional cultural and art program.
The main activity of the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival – Hanoi 2019 is the display of cherry blossoms and some Vietnamese and Hanoi flowers from March 29 to March 31. The organizers indicated that this year, there are 100 trees and 20,000 branches of cherry blossoms of all kinds, including pink, white, single and double, and all are popular in Japan. Besides, there are many kinds of Hanoi and Vietnamese flowers. To create new points, the bonsai miniatures will simulate stereoscopic shapes of 7 wonders of the world.

Besides, the Festival will introduce some special cultural features of Japan such as Japanese tea culture, chess and Kendama game … in the area of Octagonal House – Ly Thai To Flower Garden…
The traditional art program in Hanoi, including: Ca Trù singing, Xẩm singing and Bồng dance … are organized together with a number of other activities such as the introduction of Vietnamese and Japanese flower arrangement and Japanese Yosakoi dance performance in Ba Kiem Temple Flower Garden and Dinh Tien Hoang Street space. Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine area with about 20 booths to introduce Japanese and Vietnamese typical dishes will take place in Hanoi Children’s Palace.

In addition, in the framework of this year’s Festival, other activities such as the Conference on investment and tourism promotion and exchange between Hanoi and Japan on March 29 and Health and education exchanges to learn management lessons in the field of health and education between Vietnam and Japan are organized with the following contents: support for counseling and medical examination and treatment for some patients with serious diseases; offering books and equipment, directly support some activities under Japanese model and new technology…
The Organizers expects that Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival – Hanoi 2019 will contribute to improving the understanding of Japanese people and culture for the Capital people and further closely tightening good, comprehensive and profound relationship between two countries.
