Executive Committee of Hanoi West Lake Sailing Club, at its second session, for the term 2023-2028.

According to the report, during the first term (2017-2022), the Executive Committee of West Lake Sailing Club in Hanoi has developed and implemented an action plan in compliance with the Charter of the club as well as the sports activities plan of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports. The club has built and maintained a safe, standard training environment for members, students, and people in the Capital to participate in sports such as Rowing, Kayaking, SUP, windsurfing, sailing, dragon boat racing, etc.

Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Pham Xuan Tai delivered a speech at the Congress.

In addition, the Club has fulfilled its role as the nucleus of building the dragon boat movement in Hanoi, performing well the task of organizing and operating the expanded Hanoi dragon boat swimming festivals/tournaments from 2018 to 2023 (no tournament will be held in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic) assigned by Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports. From the first trial dragon boat event in 2018 with 4 boat teams from northern provinces and cities and 8 districts of Hanoi city, the dragon boat event in 2023 was organized with the participation of 40 boat teams from 36 units with more than 600 athletes and coaches competing in 5 different categories. Mr. Dang Duc Dung was elected as Chairman of West Lake Sailing Club, at its second session, for the term 2023-2028.

During its operation, the Club has made practical and timely contributions to the repair and upgrade of infrastructure and training equipment at Lac Long Quan Center such as renovating the gym floor and supplementing physical training equipment; renewing and maintaining floating pontoons for lifting boats; lending canoes serving rescue training, etc. The Club regularly provides timely support, encouragement, and rewards to boat racing athletes in Hanoi city, as well as activities of the Team and Management Board. At some tournaments, at the suggestion of the coaching board, club members sponsored Hanoi’s rowing athletes with funds to buy health supplements (protein). Also, the Club has coordinated with the Vietnam Canoeing, Rowing, and Sailing Federation to encourage and reward the Vietnamese Rowing Team for their excellent performances at ASIAD 2018 in Indonesia. The Club also mobilized sponsors to coordinate with the Team to encourage and promptly reward Hanoi athletes who achieved outstanding achievements at the 2018 National Sports Festival, SEA Games 31, as well as some other tournaments.

At the congress, delegates discussed a number of key issues and proposed operating directions for West Lake Sailing Club, Hanoi City, at its second session, for the term 2023-2028. Accordingly, the Executive Committee of West Lake Sailing Club, at its second session, set a goal of attracting 200 individual members and 30 organizational members by 2028. Special attention is paid to high schools and universities in the city. Three to five members are sent to training courses for coaches and referees to receive national and international certificates. Every year, the club’s tournaments are organized at the West Lake. Continue to participate in organizing the annual Hanoi Open Dragon Boat Swimming Tournament organized by the People’s Committee of Hanoi City and Vietnam Airlines. Participate in domestic and international boat races. Advocate and participate in organizing the international master rowing tournament and the international dragon boat tournament at West Lake. Regularly organize community activities for the preservation and cleaning of the water surface of the West Lake.
