In the evening of December 15, at the pedestrian spaces around Hoan Kiem Lake (Hanoi), the People’s Committee of Dien Bien province, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Hanoi city, held the opening ceremony of 2023 Dien Bien Cultural and Tourism Week in Hanoi.
Ms. Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairman of People’s Committee of Hanoi city, presented flower baskets from the City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hanoi city on the occasion of the opening of the ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Tran Quoc Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee cum Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Le Thanh Do, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dien Bien province; and Ms. Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairman of People’s Committee of Hanoi city.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of People’s Committee of Dien Bien province emphasized that Dien Bien Cultural and Tourism Week in Hanoi is an important event that begins a series of cultural, sports and tourism activities in 2024 in Dien Bien province, such as: Opening of the National Tourism Year and Orchid Festival 2024 held in the middle of March 2024; Dien Bien Phu Cherry Blossom Festival 2024 held in the middle of January 2024; Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival and National Paragliding Club Championship 2024 and activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
This is an opportunity to introduce the cultural values and tourism products of Dien Bien Phu to tourists and people of Hanoi city, not only contributing to strengthening the cooperative relationship between Dien Bien province and Hanoi city in exploiting potentials and advantages for tourism development, but also tightening the solidarity and friendship and promoting the cooperation for development in terms of economy, commerce, investment cooperation, Cultural and Tourism.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairman of People’s Committee of Hanoi city highlighted the significance of cooperation between Dien Bien province and Hanoi capital in organizing this event, contributing to enhancing relationship, expanding cooperation, promoting investment and development between the two localities, and demonstrating the solidarity between Dien Bien province and Hanoi city.
Ms. Vu Thu Ha affirmed that this is an opportunity to promote and introduce the National Tourism Year – Dien Bien 2024 program and other important events, contributing to successfully building and promoting Dien Bien province tourism brand in Hanoi.
Besides, the achievements of cooperation in all fields between Dien Bien province and Hanoi city have contributed to strengthening exchanges and communication as well as promoting investment and development between the two localities, showing the cultural harmony and solidarity between ethnic people of Dien Bien province and Hanoi city, helping Dien Bien people understand more about Hanoi, the capital of thousand years of civilization, and further promoting and tightening the good relationship between the two localities, especially in coordinating and supporting to hold special activities and events of Dien Bien province and Hanoi city.

At the opening ceremony, the art program was held with many unique performances, imbued with the national cultural identity and historical characteristics of the heroic land of Dien Bien, creating an active, vibrant, and colorful community cultural space, in harmony with the jubilant atmosphere before the new year 2024 in Hanoi capital.
Dien Bien Cultural and Tourism Week in Hanoi city will take place from December 15 to 17 at the pedestrian spaces around Hoan Kiem Lake with a series of activities such as art performance show “Dien Bien – the call of nature”; Art exchange program; space for displaying, introducing and promoting cultural, tourism and agricultural products from Dien Bien province; photo exhibition on the theme “From Dien Bien Phu Victory in 1954 to Dien Bien Phu in the Air Victory in 1972”; traditional culture and sports experience activities of ethnic groups in Dien Bien province; Conference on promoting tourism in Dien Bien province.
In particular, residents and tourists will have an opportunity to visit the colorful space of culture, folk arts, and traditional crafts of Dien Bien’s ethnic groups, creating a cultural bridge to understand more and love the beautiful homeland, country, and people of Vietnam.
