General criteria for the subjects played in SEA Games 31 belong to the Olympic group, ASIAN Games

According to Deputy Director General, Tran Duc Phan, at this SEA Games 31, the host country, Vietnam will include the entire Olympic system in the competition program, in addition to adding some traditional sports as Vietnam’s strengths, but this number is very few. This is also the orientation according to the spirit of Decision No. 1616/QD-TTg, which clearly states the number of subjects in the official Olympic competition program, ASIAN Games accounts for about 2/3 of the total number of subjects in the 31st SEA Games; countries in the region may propose some other more conventional subjects.

‘Building a playground that focuses on Olympic and Asian Games is aimed at ensuring the harmony between the participating delegations, in order to create a fair playground and build a beautiful image of organizations by Vietnam; in particular, avoid choosing the strong content of the host country in the competition to get medals and remove the strong content of the countries. All will compete equally in the contents of the Olympic system of each subject included by the Organizing Committee. Organizing such a SEA Games, the host country, Vietnam will create superiority, a special brand that only the 31st Southeast Asian Games get. ”, Deputy General Director Tran Duc Phan said.

Hanoi is the main host locality for the 31st SEA Games.

At the meeting, Director General Vuong Bich Thang also expressed his opinion that Vietnam should not organize too many competition content, so it is necessary to review to build a reasonable content to ensure spirit that the Prime Minister has stated is to create a fair and equal playing field. The common criterion in the Olympic group, ASIAN Games must be the basic subjects and the subjects that are widely developing in Southeast Asia. Vietnam hosting the 31st SEA Games also aims to prepare forces to participate in major international sports tournaments in the coming time, thus, it is necessary to consider and calculate the match content accordingly. Besides, it is necessary to focus on the criteria of organizing a congress in the spirit of noble sports without placing too much emphasis on achievement.

The leaders of the Administration further asked the High Achievement 1, 2 Sports Department, in charge of sports in the competition program of SEA Games 31 to continue to review and agree on the number of suitable content. Deputy Director General Tran Duc Phan also emphasized that, from next month, the subjects will be very busy when the competition system starts again, so the leaders of the High Achievement 1, 2 Sports Department as well as boards for sports in the SEA Games 31’s competition program should be proactive and active in keeping up with the preparation plan. The disciplines also need to increase communication with the locality during the preparation for the SEA Games to ensure overall success for the Games.

At the same time, the Vietnam Sports Administration also requires subjects to actively build plans to establish a subject organizing committee, prepare ground conditions to get ready for the organization of the largest multi-sport event in the region.
