On July 10, the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi held a meeting and praised people of typical merits in the city on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of war invalids – martyrs (27/7/1947 – 27/7/2017). Attending the meeting, in terms of the Central, there were Party Central Committee members: Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Vice President; Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs. In terms of Hanoi city, there were Politburo member, Hanoi Party Secretary Hoang Trung Hai; Member of the Central Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang; Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, President of the People’s Council Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc; Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Dao Duc Toan; Standing Vice President of the People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu; Vu Hong Khanh, Member of the City Standing Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and representatives of functional departments of the city. Also, representatives from ministries, central and local authorities and sectors, and more than 900 delegates who are people of typical merits in the city.

On behalf of the leaders of the city, I warmly welcome and send my deepest gratitude, emotion, the most cordial greetings to the delegates, the distinguished guests who have come to attend the meeting today; Through all of your I would like to send to all the heroic Vietnamese mothers, armed heroes, labor heroes, revolutionary veterans, sick soldiers, people with meritorious deeds, relatives of the revolutionary martyrs, veterans who have made outstanding contributions in the cause of building and defending the Socialist Vietnam Fatherland.
Experiencing the hatred, fierce years and months in the great and long-term battle of the nation, the next generation are succeeding the previous generation, the elite children of the capital and the country have volunteered to dedicate youth for the revolution. Many have sacrificed, many of whom bear the injuries, diseases for the wicked after-effects of the war. Such noble sacrifices and devotions of old and the young have brought glory to the nation, is the symbol of revolutionary heroism, the bright examples for the future generations to follow, imprinted in the yellow pages of the history of the Vietnamese nation.

Apart from fully and promptly implementing preferential regimes for people with meritorious services according to the State’s regulations, the city has a special mechanism to better foster the material and spiritual life of people with meritorious services, to organize the rotary nursing service once every two years for people with meritorious services (according to the central regulations, at that time, it was every five years); issued nearly 20,000 free bus passes for war invalids, sick soldiers and people with meritorious services. The movement of “gratitude” with many practical activities has been developing in both intensively and extensively, becoming the cultural beauty of Hanoians, as a result of united strength; The care from leadership of the Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, together with the contributions of the entire society for stabilizing the lives of people with meritorious services, contributing to maintaining the social stability, strengthening the belief of the people to the Party and authorities, promoting the patriotic tradition in the new era.

At the ceremony, delegates attending the program met and exchanged with guests: Pham Thi Huong (wife of the martyr Nguyen The Binh, who passed away in 1972 at the Southern front) is now living at Nam Dong Ward (Dong Da District); Hero of the armed forces Nguyen Van Huong (2nd class war invalids, in Nghia Tan ward, Cau Giay district) and Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan (Deputy secretary of the Board of Directors of VietinBank), one of the entities that have well implemented “Gratitude” work for many years.

On this occasion, Hanoi honored 300 wounded, sick soldiers and family members of martyrs who have have made many efforts, overcome difficulties, overcome injuries, diseases, actively participated in working and production. 78 individuals have been awarded certificates of merit for their achievements in participating in “gratitude” activities and good implementation of policies for people with meritorious services of the city.
