Opening ceremony and handover of houses to 2 households in A Ngo Commune

A Ngo Commune, Da Krong District, Quang Tri Province is a border area between Vietnam and Laos with rather high rate of the poor households. Many households have many children and no enough food to eat and many generations of a family live in the same dilapidated and thatched house.

With the difficult and deprived life of ethnic people in the border areas in the extremely difficult district among 62 poorest districts of the country, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ba Duyet – former Head of La Lay International Border Guard Station gave idea of donating money to build houses for the ethnic people in the border area.

Border guards and members of the Veterans’ Organization under Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports talked to families in the new houses.

For past years, officers and soldiers of La Lay International Border Guard Station have voluntarily deducted a part of the monthly salary and mobilized their relatives, friends and enterprises to build houses of gratitude for the ethnic minorities in this border area.

Upon coming back the battlefield of the Veterans’ Organization under Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in late 12/2018, on the occasion of the founding anniversary of the People’s Army of Vietnam, the veterans had the opportunity to exchange and meet the border guards of La Lay International Border Guard Station, listen to stories about life of the ethnic people and further understand DaKrong. The Veterans’ Organization under Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports supported for funding and seeking funds to Quang Tri to help build the houses of gratitude for poor ethnic people.

Dilapidated house of the ethnic people …

… is replaced with new house.

On March 02, 2019, inauguration and handover of the houses of gratitude in the border area to the family of Mr. Con Lien in A Deng hamlet and Mrs. Can Lap in A Ngo hamlet (A Ngo commune) from funds of the Veterans’ Organization under Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities took place in joy and emotion of two families and the border guards.

This is very meaningful to bring a comfortable life to the villagers and to join together to protect the frontier.
