Department of Culture and Sports organized the meeting of retired cadres over periods

It is a meaningful activity organized by the Department of Culture and Sport every Spring. The attendees of the meeting included Mr. To Van Dong – Secretary of Party Committee, Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports; Ms. Tran Thi Van Anh – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Director of the Department; Ms. Bui Thi Thu Hien – Deputy Director of the Department; and leaders of departments and units under the Department. Particularly, the meeting also had the attendance of former leaders of the Department of Culture and Sport, former heads and deputy heads of departments, divisions and units directly under the Department and many retired officers working in the Culture and Sports Industry over periods.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. To Van Dong, Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, on behalf of Party Committee and Board of Management of the Department sent greetings to all retired cadres on the occasion of the New Year. He also shared about the outstanding achievements of Hanoi’s Culture and Sports Industry 2019. Specifically, 2019 was the breakthrough year to implement the Resolution of the 16th Party Congress of Hanoi City’s Party Committee,  the fourth year of implementation of the socio-economic plan for the 2016-2020 period; the year of many important events of the country and the Capital. With determination to tighten discipline, creativity, innovation, and responsibility, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports continued to promote the implementation of the topic 2019 – the year of “Enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of activities of the political system” and has achieved outstanding results in all three areas: Culture, Sports and Family. State management, inspection and control were strengthened. The Department of Culture and Sport has advised the City People’s Committee to issue a Plan to perfect and improve the quality of the grassroots sports and cultural institution system in the city until 2020. Recently, Hanoi City officially became a member of UNESCO’s network of creativity cities, intending to use cultural resources and cultural creativity for the sustainable development of the city.

The career of cultural development has achieved many outstanding results. The conservation and promotion of cultural heritage values are concerned; The renovation and restoration of relics were invested. The building of local cultural lifestyle is interested in terms of implementation organization with many rich and practical activities. The organization and management of festive activities in 2019 have faced different positive changes. Cultural and artistic movements in districts and towns have been increasingly concerned. Nearly 2,600 art performances and 3,300 film screenings were organized in theaters managed by the Department and in remote districts and towns. Hanoi has had 32 artists conferred by the President on the title of People’s Artist and Meritorious Artist.

The mass sports movement has prospered. The city has organized 56 mass sports activities and competitions with the attendance of more than 10,000 athletes and awarded 2,901 turns of medals. In 2019, Hanoi hosted 14 national professional sports tournaments with the participation of over 3,000 athletes. High-Performance Sports Hanoi maintained its leading position in the country when participating in domestic and international sports tournaments, with 2,814 medals in domestic tournaments and 463 international medals. In particular, Hanoi contributed the most medals to the total number of medals and the number of gold medals for the Vietnam Sports delegation at SEA Games 30. In 2019, the Department has actively coordinated with the units in hosting Formula 1 Racing Championship 2020; surveyed, prepared physical and sports facilities for the organization of SEA Games 31 and Para Games 11 in 2021.

At the meeting, some former leaders of the Department of Culture and Sport also shared their experiences and contributed ideas so that the industry will continue to promote its strengths in the coming time under the opinions of the former Director of the Hanoi City Department of Sports and Physical Education, Mr. Hoang Vinh Giang on investment in and upgrading of works and items, and investment in human resource to better serve SEA Games 31 which will be held in Hanoi Capital in 2021 and investment in facilities for tennis … At the same time, he also expressed his joy about the achievements of the Capital’s Sports Industry in the past time, especially those of the industry at SEA Games 30.
