According to the official dispatch, implementing the direction of the Secretariat at the Official Dispatch No. 79-CV/TW dated January 29, 2020, and the Directive No. 05/CT-TTg of January 28, 2020, of the Prime Minister on prevention of acute respiratory infections caused by new strains of Coronavirus, the Directive No. 06/CT-TTg dated January 31, 2020, of the Prime Minister on strengthening measures to prevent of new complication of acute respiratory infection caused by new strains of Coronavirus, the General Department of Sports and Physical Education proposed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Departments of Culture & Sports of provinces and cities directly under the Central Government, National Sports Federations, Associations and related entities take several measures.

The Hanoi Dragon Boat Festival is postponed in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Accordingly, it is agreed to suspend the organization of sports tournaments in the national and international competitions system in Vietnam in February 2020. After this time, depending on the evolution of the epidemic situation, the units consider organizing sports activities as planned. For local-level sports competitions, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Departments of Culture and Sports of provinces and cities are requested to consider and suspend the organization of sports competition activities with large numbers of participants.
Sports training centers, training facilities for athletes should establish plans and promptly implement measures to prevent acute respiratory infections caused by new strains of Coronavirus strictly according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and local medical establishments; strictly manage the entry and exit of training facilities and minimize the organization of picnic training activities for athletes.
For sports teams participating in foreign competitions and training in the approved plan, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training required the management units to calculate the appropriate travel route and avoid transit in countries with outbreak and implementation of preventive measures to ensure prevention and control of diseases for athletes before, during and after the foreign competitions and training.
Previously, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued the Official Notification No. 396/CD-BVHTTDL to the Chairmen of the People’s Committees of the provinces and cities directly under the Central Government to request a temporary suspension of all activities at historical-cultural sites and places of scenic beauty (except for cases of performing assigned tasks) to avoid crowded people; promptly notify the people, visitors to know and implement.
