Overview of the press conference to introduce the festival in the morning of September 20, 2022
This festival is organized by the Vietnam Association of Theater Artists in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports every 2 years.
In the speech at the press conference, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Pham Thi My Hoa – Head of the Festival Organizing Committee affirmed the 5th Capital Theater Festival – 2022 was a great cultural event of Hanoi on the occasion of 68th anniversary of Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2022), and contributed to bringing new and quality theatrical works to a large audience of the Capital.
The 5th Capital Theater Festival- 2022 has the participation of 13 troupes with 13 plays introduced to the public of the Capital.
The new feature of this festival is that in addition to the presence of Hanoi troupes, national troupes located in Hanoi such as Hanoi Drama Theater, Hanoi Cheo Theatre, Hanoi Cai Luong Theater, Hanoi Circus and Variety Arts Theater, Thang Long Art Performance Association (Hanoi Theater Association), Vietnam Cai Luong Theater, Army Cheo Theater, Military Play Theater, Military University of Culture and Arts, Le Ngoc Theater, there are 3 troupes from Ho Chi Minh City, including Song Viet Performance Organization Co., Ltd., Sen Viet Theater, Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association participating the festival.

13 plays participating in the 5th Capital Theater Festival – 2022 come from different genres including drama, cai luong, cheo, circus and all are elaborately invested and staged plays, promising to attract the audience. Especially the repertoire “Hà Nội thành phố của những giấc mơ (Hanoi City of Dreams)” by the Hanoi Circus and Variety Arts Theater is highly awaited because this is the first time a circus art troupe has appeared at the festival.
As planned, the Capital Theater Festival will open in the evening of September 25 at Dai Nam Theater (89 Hue Street, Hanoi). After the opening ceremony, the repertoire “Trung trinh liệt nữ” by the Hanoi Cheo Theater will open the festival.
In the morning of September 26, there will be the play “Sóng dựng Lô Giang (Waves of Lo Giang)” by the Military Cheo Theater, which will be performed at the Theater (No. 45, Alley 126 Xuan Dinh Street, Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi). In the evening of September 26 at Dai Nam Cinema, the repertoire “Trời Nam (Southern country)” will be performed by the Hanoi Cai Luong Theater.
In the evening of September 27, Vietnam Cai Luong Theater will attend the festival with the repertoire “Bất tử với Thăng Long (Long live with Thang Long)” at Dai Nam Theater.
In the morning of September 28, the Military Drama Theater will perform “Mưa đỏ (Red Rain)” at the Military Theater (Ho Tung Mau Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi). In the evening of September 28, the repertoire “Đêm trước ngày hoàng đạo (Night before the zodiac day)” by Song Viet Performance Organization Co., Ltd will be performed at Dai Nam Theater.
In the morning of September 29, at Cong Nhan theater (42 Trang Tien) repertoire “Án tình (Love case)” of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Artists Association will be performed. In the evening of the same day, there is the play “Câu hát tìm nhau (Finding each other via song words)” by Sen Viet Theater at Dai Nam Theater.

In the morning of September 30, the Military University of Culture and Arts will perform the repertoire “Hoa cúc nhà trời (Chrysanthemum of the Heaven)” at the University (101 Nguyen Chi Thanh, Dong Da, Hanoi). In the afternoon of September 30, the circus-combined play “Hà Nội thành phố của những giấc mơ (Hanoi City of Dreams)” by the Hanoi Circus and Variety Art Theater will be performed at Cong Nhan Theater. In the evening of September 30, Thang Long Art Performance Association (Hanoi Theater Association) will perform the play “Vương Quyền – Vụ án Tống Thị Quyên (Kingship – The case of Tong Thi Quyen)” at Dai Nam Cinema.
In the morning of October 1, 2022, Le Ngoc Stage will perform the repertoire “Huyền tích chùa Một Cột (The Legend of One Pillar Pagoda)“. In the evening of the same day, the play “Thúy Kiều – Một kiếp đoạn trường (Thuy Kieu – A short life)” by the Hanoi Drama Theater will be performed at the Cong Nhan theater.
The closing ceremony of the 5th Capital Theater Festival – 2022 will take place in the evening of October 2, 2022 at Dai Nam Cinema.
Performances of the Capital Theater Festival are free for audiences who love the Hanoi capital’s theater.
