This is a practical activity of the Hanoi Women’s Union at all levels in response to the Week of Clean Water and Sanitation (April 29 – May 06) and World Environment Day, as well as the Hanoi People’s Committee’s Directive No. 06/CT-UBND dated March 25, 2022, on the implementation of a civilized lifestyle, decoration, and environmental hygiene towards the 31st Southeast Asian Games (June 05).
The launching ceremony of Hanoi Women to have a civilized life and build a clean and beautiful capital environment
At the launching ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, Standing Vice President of Hanoi Women’s Union emphasized: the 31st SEA Games was a sporting event with the significant cultural, political and diplomatic and economic meanings. This was also an opportunity to widely promote to international friends about the thousand-year-old tradition of Thang Long – Hanoi, the Heroic Capital, and the City for Peace. Being well aware of the roles and responsibilities of the Association and each woman in the capital in participating in the implementation of the city’s political tasks, over the past time, each branch of the Association has had many practical activities, many achievements in the implementation of the Campaign “Building a family with 5 No and 3 Yes”; The movement “For a clean environment, women and the capital residents do not dump waste on the streets and public places”; the movement “The capital’s women behave in a civilized manner”…
Many exemplary women have been encouraged and mobilized by the association to follow the rules for urban civilized order, the conduct code in public places, actively protect the environment, clean their homes, alleys, streets, and fields, plan the removal of waste backlog points, actively plant and care for flowers and trees, renovate the landscape in residential areas, avoid using plastic bags, fight against plastic waste, etc., and contribute to the construction of better communities.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Women’s Union, urged the Association at all levels, officers, and women members throughout the city to actively encourage and mobilize members, women, and their families to continue to respond to the peak of environmental sanitation from now until June 5, 2022 – World Environment Day, actively participate in the activities of launching general cleaning at 6:30 a.m. every Saturday; clean houses, gardens, village roads, alleys, and wards beautifully, participate in urban embellishment, do not throw garbage on the street, do not encroach on sidewalks as illegal trading places; implement the motto “Order, discipline, safety, light, green, clean, beautiful”.

The Hanoi Women’s Union arranged the competition “Blooming Fresco Roads and Streets” at all levels in 2022 as part of the inaugural ceremony. The contest, which was held at the association level for the second year, had its scope and content expanded in an effort to further promote, mobilize, and raise awareness of the cadres, women’s members, and the general public’s active and fundamental role in maintaining the bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment, contribute to the realization of a civilized urban lifestyle, and take part in the creation of a new countryside in the capital’s area.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, officers and women’s members of the capital took part in the general environmental sanitation, garbage collection, propaganda to limit the use of plastic bags in the area of Cau Giay lake; participate in meaningful activities to protect the environment such as visiting and displaying some models and products recycled from plastic waste; practical guidance on some products recycled from waste; hand out environmentally friendly bags and water bottles; exchange scraps for trees…
