Closely coordinating with the administration in building and implementing the theatre’s plans, particularly in preservation, inheritance and development of the traditional arts of Cheo; constantly attaching great importance to consolidating and building its Party Cell which has for many year been recognised as a clean and strong one, that constitutes a prominent feature of Ha Noi Cheo theatre’s Party Cell.
For the past year, Ha Noi Cheo theatre’s Party Cell has placed considerable attentions to developing itself into the clean and powerful one, but also steering all of its cadres, staff, artists, musicians to successfully fulfil their assignments.
According to Merit artist Thuy Mui, Party Cell Chief, Director of the theatre, every year, the Party Cell’s leadership has mapped out plans of action for implementation on a monthly and quarterly basis, in which much concern has been focused on continuously raising ethical virtues and lifestyle among the party members. Together with immediately and effectively generalizing the Party and State’s directives to every party member, the theatre’s Party Cell has shaped a contingent of cadres and party members who are highly responsible, united, actively equipped themselves with professionalism, criticism and self criticism. In realizing its leadership over the administration, with a view to firmly maintaining its clean and strong title, Ha Noi Cheo theatre’s Party Cell has incorporated the content of “learning and doing after President Ho Chi Minh’s ethical example” with the conservation and inheritance of the Cheo traditional arts treasure, effectively materializing the schemes of “Conserving the Cheo traditional arts” and “Introducing and Performing Cheo arts at primary schools located in the areas of Ha Noi city” (Schooling Stage Scheme), thus making contribution to upkeeping and preserving the national cultual identities, and fruitful execution of VIIIth Session’s Resolution No.5 of the Party Central Committe. Yearly, under the the Party Cell’s leadership, Ha Noi Cheo theatre has performed more than 400 shows, reaching the target of 120 to 150% and always strikingly overfulfiled its allocated duties with the revenue amounting to dozens of billions dong/per year, which has managed to support the artists and musicians’s livings by their career.

The spirit of learning and doing after President Ho Chi Minh’s ethical example in the light of the Politbureau’s Directive No.3 has been included in Ha Noi Cheo theatre’s regular activities, holding a series of practical topics closely associated with the theatre’s characters, situations and functions as well as individuals. By doing so, all staff in the theatre both party member and non-member has always hightened a high sense of responsibility with speaking and acting in the same way, so as to complete their duties. Apart from that, the Party Cell has also strengthened their leadership in well accomplishing the professional missions that have been enthusiastically received within the entire theatre, like: actively seeking and selecting scenarios whose contents and titles are suitable with Cheo arts to be used for the arrangement of 2 to 3 new shows as planned, creating the most favourable conditions for the artists to devote their talents and improve the performing skills.
In recent years now, Ha Noi Cheo theatre’s Party Cell and Directorate has succeeded to set the stage and perform a great number of typical pieces of Cheo i.e: “Quan am-Thi Kinh”, “Ms. Son”, “Ms Shita”, “Broken rice and bran – Tam Cam”, “Student’s love story”, “Miss teaches husband”, “Capital City Mover”, “The victim of an ịnjustice”, “Cao Ba Quat”, “Missing person’s love”, “ Princess of Me Linh”, “ Nguyen Cong Tru”, “ White bird wings in the night”… Many of which have won high prizes at Cheo National Festivals as “Princess Ngoc Han” , “ Great mandarin comes to village”, “Princess of Me Linh”, and “White bird wings in the night”.
Ha Noi Cheo theatre has been pursuing a long-term strategy to develop a line-up of your artists with high qualifications and professionalism through headhunting and employing talents from various provinces, so as step by step to supplement and substitute the current manpower of the theatre. Ha Noi Cheo theatre has also identified the target that more flexiblity should be stressed in directing and exploiting show- organizing activities, bringing into full play the roles and responsibilities of every unit and individual in reinforcing and expanding markets, intensifying performance operations, creating competitive advantages for a bigger market share. As such, Ha Noi Cheo theatre has deployed its troupes to all corners of the country, from major cities down to towns and counties; from countrysides to far away mountainous areas and frontiers, and sea islands; from the northwestern mountains to Ca Mau promontory. Overall, it is nowhere in this country without the theatre’s footprints. In the Capital of Ha Noi, Ha Noi Cheo theatre owns two facilities, one is named as Dai Nam located on Hue street and the other is on Nguyen Dinh Chieu street. These two are always lighting up – it is the only case among all other Cheo theatres nationwide. Besides, performers of Ha Noi Cheo theatre have travelled overseas for shows presentation at the request of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Noi (now is Department of Culture and sports). For the 3 years now, Ha Noi Cheo theatre has embarked to build a programme for children and there is up to 40% of its night shows annually exclusive for this sort of audience. Most recently, in January 2015 Ha Noi Cheo theatre has started to launch the programme of Long Thanh Folk Show which is daily taking place at 17.30hrs at 15 Nguyen Dinh Chieu street with the aim of turning it into a familiar venue for audiences both domestic and international. Thanks to its endless efforts, the theatre has become one the few in the whole country frequently in operation.
Apart from its professional operations, Ha Noi cheo theatre has been active in the implementation of propaganda work for the political aim, the most salient is a series of mixed arts programmes which have been performed at some province and cities throughout the country, in celebration of a thousand Year Grand Anniversary of Thang Long – Ha Noi, these are “Following Uncle Ho’s footsteps”; Art performances in service of military soldiers in Paracel Islands”, the Congress for Father front members of Ha Noi city, the National Assembly Congress of the XII Legislature, and Anniversaries of 3rd March, 30th April, 1st May, 19th May, 2nd September and 10th October,..
It can be noted that the achievements attained by the theatre so far have clearly demonstrated its collective efforts and creative dynamism of each staff and party member. As quoted by Merit artist, Party Cell’s head and Director Thuy Mui’s sayings,the most important factor to maintain the cleanliess and firmness in the Party Cell is the unity and oneness of mind within the Party Cell and the Organization plus the support by the theatre’s entire cardes, artists, performers, musicians. As results, Ha Noi Cheo theatre has been awarded the first-Class Labour Medal from the State President, Certificate of Praise from the Prime Minister; and for many times likewise from Ha Noi People’s Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
