Established in 2000, the Thang Long Photography Club – Hanoi has specialized in collecting, making photographic materials and arts about the capital and country in integration and development process. For sustainable relationship between club members and for unique masterpieces, the Club organized many work trips for inspiration. After 18 years of operation, the Club has increasingly transformed and developed and now has 70 members, of which 5 persons are members of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, 45 persons are members of the Hanoi Art Photography Association. The Club organized about 20 photography exhibitions in the scheme of “Hanoi Emotion” and “Colors of the country” drawing huge attention of the people in the capital. The Club also maintain the “Emotion” photography contest organized as periodical meeting. The first photography exhibition and also the one made name of the Club was “Hanoi Emotion” (in 2000) with 130 masterpieces of various topics, aspects describing a delicacy in point of view in life bringing audiences various shades of a peaceful, solemn, slowly-transformed Hanoi during industrialization & modernization process. Authors proved their talents by presenting their masterpieces in an active way leading audiences to the beauty of The Truth – The Good – The Beautiful. The “Colors of the country” photography exhibition has been held for years introducing the beauty of nature and people throughout the country, from highland to low-land, from land to the sea and islands, etc. recorded by the lens of talented photographers. The exhibition sent a message to the audiences about a colorful life, being happy and positive with what nature granted. In 2018, the organizing committee reformed the concepts by photography contest with 300 masterpieces of almost 50 authors. The Examination Board includes famous artists of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists conferred on 11 authors for their masterpieces.

The year 2018 was also a successful year of Thang Long Photography Club Hanoi. The author Truong The Cau won the first prize at the Hanoi Art Photo Contest in 2018 with the theme: “Hanoi suburban life”; The third prize of the “Hanoi Smile” photo contest organized by Hanoi People Newspaper in collaboration with Hanoi Art Photography Association. Many authors had their masterpieces presented at the National Art Photo Contest organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists: The authors Vu Quang Ngoc, Vu Quoc Hung, Pham Hai Vinh, Hoang Xuan Hao … Many authors have photos printed in the photo book “Hanoi on the development path” of Hanoi Party Committee such as: Nguyen Quang Huy, Vu Quang Ngoc, Ho Si Trung, Hoang Anh Duc, Le Duc Kim…
With a passion for photography, members of the Thang Long – Hanoi Photography Club are constantly striving to raise the sense of responsibility in the photographic career to deserve to be photographaholic “historians” of the capital.
