On the morning of 26th March, at the public garden of Ly Thai To Monument and the surrounding area of Hoan Kiem lake will take place the “Olympic Running Day for Entire People’s Health” at the municipal level. This is an activity of national stature organized on the occassion of celebrating the 71st Founding Anniversary of the Physical Sports Sector and the Day on which Uncle Ho wrote an article, saying “Sports and Health” calling on his countrymen to do exercises (27 March 1946 – 27 March 2017).

Acting on the orientation of the Ministry of Culture, sports and Tourism, Ha Noi People’s Committee has released Plan no.11/KH-UBND on the organization of the “Olympic Running Day for Entire People’s Health” and the launching the 44th open running for peace tournament of New Ha Noi Newspapers 2017. The activity is designed to step up a physical exercise movement after Great Uncle Ho’ example, turning it into an annual event, helping develop a habit of regular doing physical exercises and sports for everybody’s better health and gradually raising awarenesses of the role, significance and effectiveness of physical and sports practices in the course of protecting, enhancing health and life quality, human resource quality; building a wholesome way of life and cultural environment, contributing to the consolidation of national great unity among the entire people.
The Department of Culture and Sports has been tasked as a standing agency, responsible for guiding, supervising, speeding up, examining the implementation of the Plan and directing the holding of the “Olympic Running Day for Entire People’s Health” and the launching the 44th open running for peace tournament of New Ha Noi Newspapers 2017 on the area of Ha Noi city.
This year run will be able to attract about 7000 people, including leaders, officials, trainers, athletes, performers, outstanding artists from the General Department of Physical Sports, Ha Noi city, the masses from all walks of life in Hoan Kiem district, and sportsmen of Herballife company. The public and visitors around the pedestrian streets will participate in the activity.
After taking a lap in response around Hoan Kiem lake, there will be a martial arts performance at the stage of Ly Thai To Monument, with the participation of approximately 200 athletes), and a tug of war competition on Dinh tien Hoang street.
Earlier, as of 18 March to 27 March, the Olympic Running Day for Entire people’s health would be held at 584 wards, towns on the area of Ha Noi city, with nearly 35,000 attendees.
