Under the theme “Children with Preventing Violence and Abuse against Children”, the 2017 Child Forum of Bac Tu Liem District took place in Phuc Dien ward on the morning of June 20. Representatives of Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; Mr. Luu Ngoc Ha – Vice Chairman of the District People’s Committee; leaders of departments, disciplines and divisions, VFF, and mass organizations in the district; leaders of the party committees, administrations, Youth Union cadres, and those involved in the care and protection of children in the wards attended the forum. The forum attracted the attention of many children in the District.
Speaking at the forum, Mr. Luu Ngoc Ha – Vice Chairman of the District People’s Committee highlighted: “This is an opportunity for leaders of the district, wards, related agencies, families, communities and society to hear the voices and recommendations of children, understand their thoughts and aspirations as well as answer their questions and concerns. Thereby, relevant agencies have a practical basis to better take care of and protect children as well as implement policies related to children in the District”.
At the forum, over 90 children from 13 wards representing more than 62 thousand children in the district participated in the following parts of the forum: group discussion, exchange and agreement on recommendations with the message “Children with Preventing Violence and Abuse against Children”; listening to children and their aspirations; meeting with leaders of the district, departments, divisions and unions of the district and wards. With the theme of the forum, the children expressed their thoughts and questions which were directly heard and responded by professional agenceies and district leaders regarding the contents such as concepts of violence and abuse against children; current chidren’s exposure to violation and abuse; solutions to ensure children’s safety from increased violence and sexual and physical abuse; interventions of local administrations, agencies and mass organizations in cases of violence and abuse against children in the locality; solutions to limit school violence; impacts of social networks on violence and abuse against children and solutions; skills needed for chidren to prevent violence and abuse against children.
At present, the situation of violence and abuse against children is a pressing issue in society. Therefore, through the “Children with Preventing Violence and Abuse against Children” Forum – Bac Tu Liem District 2017 is to improve the effectiveness of communicating and educating knowledge and skill of child protection and prevention of violence and abuse against children, as well as to raise awareness and responsibility of each person, each family and each social organization, thereby taking concrete and practical actions to protect children from the risk of violence and abuse.
