Set aside all worries of the fast-paced urban life, it is here in a cozy space that you can relax, breathe in the scent of Christmas that lingers in the air, try out the distinct food and drinks that can only be found at a Christmas market, buy crafts, and watch people gather around with hot glass of wine in hand.

Christmas markets in Germany usually take place near beautiful churches. In Hanoi, the forecourt of Cua Bac Church has been chosen as the venue for the event as its bell tower and stained glass windows would add to the apparent Christmas effect for the market. Besides, the sense of smell and taste of visitors will be strongly awakened by the festive Christmas spirit in the air. You can try out Stollen and many other delicacies, or stroll around the market and buy unique Vietnamese handicrafts to gift your relatives.
At the Christmas show at the beginning of the opening ceremony of the market, the Suc Song Moi bamboo band will perform classics and internationally well known Christmas songs, giving the audience a chance to sing along and enjoy the beautiful moments of the upcoming festive season by the melodious music, the glistering candlelight, and the warmth smell of hot wine. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Goethe-Institut Vietnam, Goethe Institut Hanoi will also organize a special Christmas concert, which will take place at 8 p.m. on December 21, 2017.

In order to make this event a unique experience, this year’s concert will take place in the cozy atmosphere of Cua Bac Church instead of at Goethe Institut as the preceding years. For the first time in the history of Cua Bac Church, a Christmas concert will be held on the premises of the church itself to bring joy to the parish and the audience.
The concert will include the performances of “Coronation Mass” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major”. The famous “Air on the G string” will also be performed.
Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) together with Hanoi Catholic Youth Choir (HCYC), Choir of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet (VNOP), and four soloists (two of whom come from Germany) will perform at the concert.
Let the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life melt away and merge yourself in the melodious music at the Christmas concert as the last days of 2017 are approaching.
