At the Asian Archery Championships 2019, also as the 2020 Olympic qualifier in Thailand, the Vietnam archery had 2 archers, Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu (Hai Duong) and Do Thi Anh Nguyet (Hanoi) who won tickets to Tokyo. If not affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, the Vietnam archery still has the last opportunity to win more tickets to the Olympic.

Two Hanoi archers Loc Thi Dao and Chu Duc Anh have excellent achievements at international competitions.

Before the outbreak of Covid-19 in many countries around the world, Vietnam archery still has an opportunity to increase the total number of tickets to attend the Olympic 2020. Specifically, the world archery championship in June 2020 at Germany will bring the opportunity to win tickets to Tokyo Olympic for the top archers in Vietnam such as Loc Thi Dao and Chu Duc Anh. At that time, the two archers from Hanoi had very good records in international tournaments. Therefore, the opportunity to win tickets to the Olympic 2020 is always open with 2 Hanoi’s archers Loc Thi Dao and Chu Duc Anh.

From the perspective of the manager, the opportunity to win more Olympic tickets for Loc Thi Dao and Chu Duc Anh of Vietnamese archery is very remarkable. Therefore, the Hanoi Sports industry decided to invest strongly in a long-term training course in Korea for these two archers to gain points in the World Archery Championships. However, because of the outbreak of Covid-19, and the Korean training trip could not take place. With the postponement of the world championship, the goal of winning more Olympic tickets cannot be reached. But in the ‘difficult-to-be-wise’ situation, the 2020 Olympic Games officially stepped back in July 2021 so Vietnamese archers still have the opportunity to win more tickets to Tokyo next year.

According to Coach Cap Manh Tan, the plan of Vietnamese archery in 2020 is difficult to be implemented and predicted. At the moment, the tournaments are blocked and postponed indefinitely. In May and June, Vietnam archery’s plans for training in Myanmar and Germany have all already registered but were delayed due to the epidemic. In Vietnam, there was a tournament for excellent archers this April, but it is also delayed. At present, the disease situation is very stressful and no country or unit can organize the tournaments.

Hanoi’s archer Do Thi Anh Nguyet officially won the ticket to the Olympic

In addition to the influence on the goal of winning more tickets to the 2020 Olympic Games, the Covid-19 epidemic also affected to the training plana of the two archers, Do Thi Anh Nguyet and Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu, who had tickets to Tokyo. As planned, the two archers will be provided with equipment as well as compete in Myanmar and Germany and train in South Korea. Before attending foreign training, both of them will participate in the National Excellent Archers Tournament 2020, but due to the complicated situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the above tournaments are not able to be organized. So, the tournament’ blockage meant that the two archers did not have an opportunity to compete,

Currently, the whole Vietnamese archery team including Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu, Do Thi Anh Nguyet, Loc Thi Dao, Chu Duc Anh … still attend training in Hanoi and are always in a passive position about planning.

Up to now, Vietnam Sport has 4 official participations in the Olympics. In addition to Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu and Do Thi Anh Nguyet (archery), there are Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming) and Le Thanh Tung (gymnastics).
