Tran Tuan An played the guitar when he was a child. At the age of 12, he was dubbed as a “musical prodigy” with the award “Young Vietnamese guitar talent”. Tran Tuan An received a scholarship to follow a master’s program at Yale University (USA) and a doctoral program at Northwestern University (USA).

He has won many international music awards such as the first prize of Hamilton International Guitar Competition (Canada), the second prize of the Berlin International Guitar Competition (Germany) … The 27-year-old artist has performed at various large concert halls in North America, as well as Asia. Currently, He is the exclusive artist of Classics Alive Artists (Los Angeles, USA).

“I want to be able to build an art bridge connecting Vietnam to the world”, wished Tran Tuan An – talented guitarist and the champion of many international music awards.

Tran Tuan An has received many honorable music awards.

Despite the success of the world music scene with many prestigious awards, the young artist always desires to develop the country’s classical guitar. Whenever returning to the homeland, he always takes part in performing for donations for charitable organizations as well as organizing free master- classes at musical academies.

This night’s concert in Hanoi is no exception. Apart from the works by world-famous composers, Tran Tuan An and his guitar crafted by artist Stephan Connor will perform the work “Rain” by Professor Dang Ngoc Long. This is one of two works assisting Tran Tuan An to have won the second prize in the 2016 international guitar competition in Berlin.

For this time, all the works performed by Tran Tuan An in the concert are modern works written in the twentieth century, namely: “Sevillana” by Joaquín Turina (1882-1949) and “Un Tiempo fue Itálica Famosa” by Joaquín Rodrigo (1901-1999); works written specifically for guitar by Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera “Sonata written for guitar, Op.47”; “Flying Wigs” and “Triaela” by French composer- Roland Dyens.

Tuan An and the guitar fabricated by Stephan Connor hopefully will bring to L’Espace a special night of classical music.
