On March 6, the Traditional Boat Racing Tournament was held at the Linh Dam Lake (Hoang Mai, Hanoi) by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports. It is one of activities to stimulate the movement of physical education and sports and preserve traditional cultural values in Hanoi.

The traditional boat racing tournament 2018 of Hanoi city is participated by districts such as Hoang Mai, Dan Phuong, My Duc, Chuong My, Thanh Oai, etc. competing in two categories such as 800 meters and 1600 meters for male and female. Although this year’s tournament is held on weekdays, it still attracts thousands of followers, audience as well as athletes.

The tournament attracts not only fans in Hoang Mai district, but also many audience from other localities such as Chuong My, Dan Phuong, My Duc, Thanh Oai to cheer and to watch the tournament.

At the tournament, the teams gave the audience a dramatic and attractive competition. At the end of the tournament, with the better athletes than the home team Hoang Mai, Chuong My team won two championships. Specifically, the Organizing Committee awarded the following prizes: as for women’s 800m, Hoang Mai achieved the First prize, Chuong My Second, Dan Phuong and My Duc Third; regarding men’s 800m, Chuong My recorded the First prize, Hoang Mai Second, Dan Phuong and Thanh Oai Third; Chuong My gained the First prize, Hoang Mai Second; My Duc and Dan Phuong Third in women’s 1600m; Hoang Mai won the First prize, Chuong My Second; Dan Phuong and Thanh Oai Third in men’s 1600m.

Mr. Hoang Nguyen, the Deputy Director of the Hoang Mai Center for Culture, Information and Sports said, “As planned by the Hanoi People’s Committee, Hoang Mai district has coordinated with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports to organize the traditional boat racing tournament of Hanoi in 2018 at Linh Dam Lake. We have well prepared for the safety and security, contributing to the success of the tournament. Attending the traditional boat racing tournament of Hanoi in 2018, Hoang Mai team has 80 athletes competing in all four contents. From the early days of competition, our boat racing team actively practiced to prepare for the tournament. Every year, we organize the boat racing festival at the district level in Yen So ward. Our athletes are selected from Yen So ward. “

The traditional boat racing tournament of Hanoi 2018 is also the last activity in the sport series for Lunar New Year 2018 organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports. It is the second traditional Boat Racing Tournament Festival at the city level held after the Lunar New Year 2018.
