The “Family Singing Contest” was held by the People’s Committee of Bac Tu Liem District in the morning of June 24. Attending guests at the contest were Mr. Luu Ngoc Ha, Vice Chairman of the District People’s Committee, Head of the Steering Board on Family Affairs; leaders of district-level offices, boards, sectors, units, and organizations; secretaries of Party committees, chairmen of People’s Councils and People’s Committees, vice chairmen in charge of culture and society, heads of propaganda and education at ward level, 19 families from 13 wards, and residents from all over the district.

In his opening speech at the contest, Mr. Luu Ngoc Ha, Vice Chairman of the District People’s Committee, Head of the Steering Board on Family Affairs, affirmed that the singing contest was a useful event that gave the families a chance to share life experiences and learn from each other and an opportunity to show the affection, responsibility, and the bonds among family members, and that it was also an event to help each family member to appreciate and promote the traditional cultural values of Vietnamese families.

19 participating teams brought to the contest 21 unique performances on the theme of praising the Party, Uncle Ho, the family, and the love for the homeland in the form of love songs, lullabies, and dances imbued with cultural identity and rich, diverse in genre. Particularly, a family of 4 generations, including an 82 year-old and a 6 year-old, participated in the contest.

At the end of the contest, the organizers awarded a number of prizes to the contestants. The first prize in the solo category was awarded to the family of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Cuoc from Duc Thang 1 ward, the first prize in the duo category was awarded to the family of Mr. Nguyen Khac Tinh from Phuc Dien ward, and the first prize in the group category was awarded to the family of Mr. Vu Dai Phong from Xuan Dinh ward.

The organizers also handed out the awards to the oldest contestant, the youngest contestant, the family with the most number of generations participating, the most impressive performance, the most diverse performance, the performance with the most number of elderly contestants, and the art family./.
