Final Round of the 2nd “Exemplary Cultural Families” Festival in Hanoi – 2023

Amidst the spirited atmosphere of competition leading up to the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Whole Nation Unity Festival (11/18/2003 – 11/18/2023), on the morning of November 13, at the Cultural Center of Dong Anh District, the Department of Culture and Sports ceremoniously organized the final round of the 2nd “Exemplary Cultural Families”..

Amidst the spirited atmosphere of competition leading up to the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Whole Nation Unity Festival (11/18/2003 – 11/18/2023), on the morning of November 13, at the Cultural Center of Dong Anh District, the Department of Culture and Sports ceremoniously organized the final round of the 2nd “Exemplary Cultural Families” Festival in Hanoi – 2023.

The 2nd “Exemplary Cultural Families” Festival in Hanoi – 2023, is an initiative contributing to the preservation and promotion of the fundamental cultural values, the core essence of families. It emphasizes the crucial role of families in the societal development, gradually constructing warm, egalitarian, progressive, and happy family environments.

The establishment of “Cultural Families” is identified as a focal point within the movement “Whole Nation Unites to Build Cultural Life,” which has been effectively implemented nationwide for the past 23 years. Building cultural families is, in essence, a significant prerequisite for constructing “Cultural Villages and Residential Groups; Institutions, Units, and Businesses Meeting Cultural Standards,” contributing to the development and enhancement of cultural living standards at the grassroots level, and fostering refined, cultured Hanoians. With this significance in mind, the Department of Culture and Sports organized the “Exemplary Cultural Families” Festival in Hanoi in 2023.

In her opening statement for the 2nd “Exemplary Cultural Families” Festival – 2023, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Tran Thi Van Anh, revealed that the festival was initiated in July 2023 and received enthusiastic responses from all 30 districts and towns. The event was organized at the grassroots level, creating a lively activity that attracted the active participation of culturally rich families from various localities. After the selection rounds at the grassroots level and the city-level preliminary round, 11 outstanding families are now present at the final evaluation, representing millions of cultural families in the capital city. They bring forth a meaningful program, providing an opportunity to discover exemplary individuals contributing to the development of cultural life at the grassroots level.

“The festival is an activity contributing to the preservation and promotion of fundamental cultural values, the core essence of families. It emphasizes the crucial role of families in societal development, gradually constructing warm, egalitarian, progressive, and happy family environments. Additionally, this occasion is a chance to honor and commend exemplary cultural families, creating conditions for cultural families in the city to meet, exchange cultural and artistic experiences, learn from one another, and share experiences in building cultural families. It is an opportunity to introduce and promote the unique and distinctive cultural values of each locality,” affirmed Ms. Tran Thi Van Anh.

The final round includes the participation of 11 exemplary families from various districts: Ba Dinh, Tay Ho, Cau Giay, Bac Tu Liem, Long Bien; and the districts of Dan Phuong, Dong Anh, Soc Son, Gia Lam, Thanh Tri, My Duc. The families participate in three categories: Greetings, Knowledge, and Talents.

Commencing the introduction segment with a theatrical flair, families showcase the locale of their residence, their notable practices, exemplary models, and practical experiences in implementing the movement “National Unity for Cultural Life Development.” They present the family members participating in the festival, highlighting their outstanding achievements in building a cultural family and adhering to the Code of Conduct within the family. Among them, Mr. Pham Quang Hai’s family (Ngoc Ha ward, Ba Dinh district) introduces the history, distinctive cultural features of the locality, and the family’s achievements, as well as the neighborhood where the family resides. Mr. Nguyen Tien Cong’s family (Bac Hong commune, Dong Anh) greets the festival with an introduction to the district’s development and changes, the movements for preserving and promoting the local cultural values. The large family of Mr. and Mrs. Pham Tien Vuong – Nguyen Thi Trung from Soc Son district presents the intangible cultural heritage of the Soc Temple Festival. Mr. Nguyen Van Bo’s family (Phu Dien ward, Bac Tu Liem district) provides an overview of Bac Tu Liem district, a place that gathers and preserves numerous tangible and intangible cultural heritages.

Knowledge Section

The knowledge section unfolds dynamically, with each family sending two members to participate in this segment, answering ten questions by raising boards indicating the correct answers. The content of the knowledge questions revolves around the criteria for building a cultural family and the Code of Conduct within the family.

In the talent competition section, within a 7-minute timeframe, families stage performances, including singing, dancing, solo acts, instrumental ensembles, scenes, and narratives, revolving around the theme “Happy Family, Prosperous Nation.”

Talents Segment

After the vibrant rounds of competitions, the festival concluded with resounding success, and the overall championship title was claimed by Mr. Nguyen Van Bo’s family from Alley 14, Phu Dien Ward, Bac Tu Liem District. The second prizes were awarded to Mr. Nguyen Tien Cong’s family (Dong Anh District) and Mr. and Mrs. Pham Tien Vuong – Mr. Nguyen Thi Trung’s family (Soc Son District).

The festival also served as a platform for honoring and commending exemplary cultural families, facilitating cultural exchange, artistic interactions, mutual learning, and the exchange of experiences in the realm of building cultural families among families across the city. Simultaneously, it provided an opportunity to introduce and promote the unique and exceptional cultural values of each locality.
