Hai Ba Trung District Commemorates Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day and Responds to Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023

On the morning of November 23, at the Ruooc Nuoc Pier and Hai Ba Trung Temple in Bach Dang Ward, the People’s Committee of Hai Ba Trung District organized an artistic program to celebrate the 18th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (January 23) and to respond to the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023.

Among the attendees were distinguished representatives, including Mr. Vu Van Hoat – Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Propaganda Committee of the District Party Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien – Member of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the District People’s Committee; representatives from the Management Board of Monuments and Scenic Spots (Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports); representatives from various offices, departments, political and social organizations in the district; the Head and Deputy Head of the Ecclesiastical Affairs Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the district; Party committees, People’s Committees, cultural and social officials from 18 wards; the abbots and caretakers of the monuments in the district.

In her speech at the program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien – Member of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the District People’s Committee, affirmed: To preserve and promote the value of cultural heritage, transforming it into a source for sustainable socio-economic development, in 2023, the District People’s Committee collaborated with the Thang Long Hanoi Cultural Heritage Association to compile the book “Historical Monuments of Hai Ba Trung District” to consolidate information on the historical and cultural monument system, revolutionary historical relics, and memorial sites of events and traditional festivals in the district. The district also worked in conjunction with the Hanoi Publishing House to prepare the publication of the handbook “Traveling in Hai Ba Trung District – A Dynamic, Creative Destination” to disseminate and promote the introduction of Hai Ba Trung District to the public and tourists, highlighting its exemplary cultural, historical, artistic, aesthetic, culinary, commercial, and service values. This effort aims to contribute to the preservation and promotion of cultural values in the area. In 2024, the district plans to submit a dossier to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to seek recognition as an intangible cultural heritage for the traditional festival of Hai Ba Trung; construct tourist destinations for the national special monument of Hai Ba Trung Temple, and Tran Nhan Tong Pedestrian Street and its vicinity.

Currently, there are 51 recognized historical sites in the district, including the national special monument of Hai Ba Trung Temple, 18 nationally ranked historical sites, and 14 city-ranked historical sites. Many of these sites have become regular attractions for tourists, contributing to the socio-economic development and promoting the image of Hai Ba Trung District in particular, and Hanoi as a whole, to international friends. Notable national monuments include the special national monument of Hai Ba Trung Temple, the cluster of monuments at Hoa Ma Pagoda, Van Ho Pagoda, Vua Pagoda, Lien Phai Pagoda, Ho Quoc Pagoda, and the Memorial Area for those who died during the 1944-1945 bombing and famine.

Over the years, the Party Committee, government, and people of Hai Ba Trung District have been focused on managing, preserving, and promoting the value of heritage in the area. Throughout various work cycles, the District Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee have issued resolutions, programs, and plans to enhance the responsibilities of different levels and sectors, concentrating resources to strengthen the management, preservation, and promotion of heritage values. Step by step, they have mobilized resources for restoration work and enhancement of historical sites.
