Bui Xuan Phai Award – For the love of Hanoi is the convergence and resonance of the hearts “for the love of Hanoi” widely. After 13 seasons, finding and discovering to honor the “loves of Hanoi” is an increasing challenge for the Jury. In particular, the 14th season in 2021 took place during the time of the Covid-19 pandemic, cultural and artistic activities froze and created anxiety for those interested in the award.

However, as shared by the members of the Jury, surprisingly, in the past year, Hanoi has been a special inspiration for many people’s ideas, jobs and creativity. As historian Duong Trung Quoc, a member of the Council said, to a certain extent, actions and ideas towards Hanoi during the pandemic are also part of the “dual goal” – when culture is always the driving force for urban development of each city.

In order to get the official nominations for the 4 main categories of the award, the key of the jury had to select from faces, ideas, jobs, works, etc. associated with Hanoi in the last year. There are large projects associated with the city’s policy, also specific projects associated with a space of Hanoi, there are foreigners who show their love for Hanoi from their works spanning dozens of years, as well as local citizens who always take Hanoi as inspiration for their works throughout their lives.
