The Government has loosened regulations on social distancing, allowing sports and mass gathering activities to be resumed. Along with that, Hanoi City has just also agreed to organize sports activities, and mass gathering activities, requiring everyone to take COVID-19 prevention and control measures such as wearing a mask, using hand sanitizer. Hanoi Sports teams are gradually resuming practice.

Outdoor sports activities in Hanoi gradually attracts many people to practice

For mass sports, it is reported that public parks and sports facilities have re-opened with more and more participants. In some parks and cultural houses in each district, many people use sports facilities and equipment in the early morning and late afternoon. At Thong Nhat Park, some small-scale running tournaments and events have been held.

For high-performance sports, practice activities have gradually been restored at Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center. After more than a month of staying at home and self-training, many athletes have returned to Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center for concentrated practice.

COVID-19 pandemic makes it hard for athletes to keep up with the program after a time of social distancing and training at home. Therefore, coaches of the Center allow athletes to practice not much a day to gradually adapt to the high intensity of practice. The athletes are advised not to practice with high intensity at the beginning as well as not to try for the best performance as ever; otherwise, they may easily get injured, which can affect their future career.

As planned, the Hanoi weightlifting team has regained high intensity of practice to prepare for the 2020 national youth weightlifting championship in July. However, many of the team wonder whether they can achieve the best results because of the interruption of practice for a long time due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Athletes are trying to regain practice sensation and intensity.

Like weightlifting team, for Hanoi youth gymnastics team, coaches are also working hard to help young athletes regain their softness and flexibility as before after a pause because of the pandemic. According to coach Hoang Cuong, it may take a long time, at least about 2 weeks, for athletes to regain their softness and flexibility of their body before taking intensive exercises.

Athletes of other sports such as athletics, wushu, petanque, table-tennis, taekwondo, wrestling, Pencak silat, etc. have also gradually regained their best sensation and intensity before taking intensive exercises.

Along with returning to concentrated practice, Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center always ensures the implementation of measures to prevent and control COVID-19 pandemic and compliance with regulations such as measuring body temperature, washing hands with sanitizer before starting practice. Hand sanitizer and mouthwash are equipped at training rooms, dining rooms and athletes’ living areas at the Center. Disinfectant is sprayed at gymnasiums, training rooms, cafeteria, housing areas, and training equipment are cleaned. All basic steps of pandemic prevention and control are fully implemented by the Center to make athletes feel assured. Along with helping athletes gradually regain their best condition, Hanoi Sports also aims to ensure health and safety for athletes, coaches, and experts.
