In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Hoang Mai District, the District’s Center for Culture, Information, and Sports recently hosted the final round of the District-level Children’s Book Introduction and Propaganda Contest in 2023 with the theme “Proud Thang Long – A Millennium of Civilization.”
Fourteen teams from 14 wards in the district actively participated in the contest, leaving a lasting and positive impression on the development of general reading culture and the specific movement of reading among children in Hoang Mai district.
The book introduction segment
The Children’s Book Introduction and Propaganda Contest in 2023 attracted enthusiastic participation from children across the district. All 14 teams actively embraced the contest, investing in training, and meticulously staging their performances. The contest provided an opportunity for the children to gain a deeper understanding of the history, culture, lives, careers, and significant contributions of the capital’s outstanding individuals. This, in turn, aimed to educate and instill a sense of national pride, fostering a greater love for the historically rich land and encouraging self-improvement, ethical development, and academic dedication to be deserving representatives of the heroic, cultured, and elegant younger generation of the capital. Simultaneously, it guided methods and the art of reading books, expanding knowledge, promoting safe, healthy entertainment, honing skills, and encouraging the dissemination and introduction of books to children throughout the district.
The talents showcase segment
Participating teams went through four segments with a maximum duration of 20 minutes, including Team Introduction (3 minutes); Book Introduction (10 minutes); Talent Showcase (5 minutes); and Knowledge Quiz (2 minutes).
At the conclusion of the District-level preliminary round, the Organizing Committee awarded 01 Excellent Prize, 02 First Prizes, 05 Second Prizes, and 06 Third Prizes to the participating teams. The Tran Phu Ward team excelled in all segments, particularly impressing with their introduction of the book “Hanoi’s Cultural Colors” – one of the works celebrating the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi by the Quang Van group, published by the Labor Publishing House. The Tran Phu Ward team secured the highest prize in the contest and will represent Hoang Mai District in the City-level competition.
To prepare for the upcoming City-level rounds and align with the series of cultural, artistic, and communication activities for the district’s most significant event in 2023 – the 20th anniversary of Hoang Mai District’s establishment – the Center for Culture, Information, and Sports directly guided, scripted book introductions, compiled questions for the Knowledge Quiz segment, and ensured the Tran Phu Ward team was best prepared for the City-level contest. Additionally, it incorporated key information about the history, culture, arts, and sports of Hoang Mai District into the Knowledge Quiz segment. This contribution aims to educate the traditions of the younger generation, introducing the historical and cultural traditions of Hoang Mai District to all participating units in this year’s contest.
