Speaking at the opening of the program, Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of Me Linh district, Ms. Bui Thi Anh Duong, recalled the meaning of Vietnamese Family Day – June 28th; and reported on the results of family life education and the support for members in building a “civilized and happy” family of the Women’s Union of the district at all levels.
According to the Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of Me Linh district, Ms. Bui Thi Anh Duong, sticking to the theme of Vietnam Family Day 2022 of the Central Government and the City: “A peaceful family – a happy society”, ” “Capital’s families in the period of Industrialization – Modernization of the Country”, recently, the Women’s Union of Me Linh district at all levels has practically implemented many activities to propagate many topics and subjects towards the celebration of the Vietnamese Family Day to all women members in the district. The propaganda is associated with the campaigns: “Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean”, “Women of the capital behave graciously”; “Building new countryside, civilized city”; promote propaganda activities on domestic violence prevention… put the quotas, targets and tasks of family related tasks into the important criterias, targets and tasks in the Association’s operation plan .

Through activities of branches, groups, members’ activities at clubs, thousands of members’ families and women in Me Linh district were able to study and received support on family knowledge, thereby improving the quality of building a family of “Wealth, Equality, Progress, Happiness” and building a family according to the criterion of “Cultural Family”. Up to now, the whole district has 44 “Reliable addresses in the community”; 35 clubs “Civilized, happy family”; 6 clubs “Women and the law”, 9 clubs “Women and families and traffic safety”; 11 Advisory groups, supporting women in solving social issues related to women and gender equality, have been operating effectively, attracting more than 5,000 members and women to participate.
The work of hunger eradication and poverty reduction, implementation of social security policies, building of cultural families in Me Linh district have also achieved many positive results. Households, cadres, members, women in difficult circumstances, poor and near-poor households have been supported in terms of seed, capital, technology, and working days for economic development. Since 2017, there have been 3,216 female member households escaping from poverty and near poverty, of which 158 member families have excelled in overcoming difficulties and raised their children well and had been rewarded in a timely manner. The material and spiritual life of the family have been raised to higher levels, the family’s traditional moral values are cared for and preserved.

Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of Me Linh district Ms. Bui Thi Anh Duong emphasized: Vietnam Family Day 2022 took place at a time when the whole country is in the period of economic recovery due to the impact of nearly 2 years of the Covid-19 epidemic, the lives of many families in the district in general, and the families of women cadres in particular, still face many difficulties. However, the unity, spreading love, sympathy, sharing, the spirit of “fellowship” to work together to overcome difficulties caused by the epidemic have been multiplied.
All this time, the staff and women members of Me Linh district have continued to effectively implement many programs to support women and people affected by the epidemic, women members and children from poor and difficult circumstances. Especially, responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union on implementing the programs “Accompanying our children”, “Godmother”…Women’s Union of Me Linh district at all levels has implemented the model of “Charity Station” by saving activity and collecting discarded material to raise funds to help disadvantaged children, orphans, and unfortunate family members who have had accidents…
After nearly 6 months of implementation, with the enthusiasm, unity and support of all staff members, corporates, benefactors… now the district has 16 children being sponsored with 500,000 VND/ child/month. In which, the Women’s Union of the city had connected to have godmothers for 3 children; The Women’s Union of the district had connected to get 2 enterprises, namely Phu Yen Construction Investment Company, Ha Thanh Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, to sponsor 4 children; Women’s Union of the district is sponsoring 2 children; Women’s Unions of communes are sponsoring 7 children.
Recently, the Women’s Union at all levels have also donated more than 100 new bicycles to students of the district; collected 25 good old bicycles and gave them to students in mountainous areas. In the month of action for children in 2022, the Union at all levels had given 257 gifts worth 108 million VND to children.
At the program “Family Day, Connecting Love” in 2022, the Women’s Union of the district had cooperated with Mien Bac Investment and Construction Company Limited; Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank, Tay Ho Tay Branch had donated 36 bicycles to 36 students from poor and difficult circumstances.
Currently, in Me Linh district, there are 189 orphans, so in near future, the Women’s Union of the district wishes to continue spreading and connecting love to help, support and accompany these children to overcome difficulties towards a better future.
Attending and speaking at the program, Deputy Chairwoman of the Hanoi Women’s Union Ms. Le Thi Thien Huong had praised and highly appreciated the efforts of the Women’s Union of Me Linh district in implementing the family life educational activities and support women members to build a “civilized, happy” family. Deputy Chairman of the Women’s Union of the city said that: Activities of the Union at all levels, from district to base unit, have contributed with the Party Committee, government and people in the district to light a warm fire in the families of women members that’ve been in difficult circumstances, building trust and creating dreams for poor but excellent students, nurturing and giving wings to their dreams to rise up in life.
Deputy Chairwoman of the Hanoi Women’s Union Ms. Le Thi Thien Huong suggested: In the future, all levels of the Women’s Union of Me Linh district will continue to launch the program “Accompanying our children” for the period 2022-2026 so that children can live in a safe environment in families filled with love, especially is to support psychological problems for children to develop more comprehensively. To continue to mobilize socialization resources to support more equipment and conditions for children to have better learning conditions. At the same time, to promote the program “Godmother” to connect love, mobilize cadres, women members and corporates to sponsor orphans to support, encourage and applaud them to strive for better result in learning, become a good child, a good student.
On this occasion, the Women’s Union of Me Linh district had awarded 18 scholarships to 18 poor students who overcame difficulties to study well; presented 36 bicycles to 36 disadvantaged students in the district.

Moreover, at the program, the Women’s Union of Me Linh district had awarded a drawing contest with the theme “Family in my eyes” which was launched to create a playground for students as well as to respond to “Action Month for Children” of 2022. From 22 notable works selected from the base unit, the Women’s Union of Me Linh district had selected 17 most excellent works for award. In which, 01 first prize was awarded to Dao Hoang Anh – Grade 8A, Tien Thinh Secondary School; 02 Second prizes were awarded to Luu Bao Khanh – Grade 8B, Hoang Kim Secondary School and Nguyen Thanh Dung – Grade 8A, Chi Dong Secondary School; 03 Third prizes were awarded to students: Cao Thi Ngoc Ha – Grade 8D – Dai Thinh Secondary School; Ho Quynh Diem – Grade 6B, Van Yen Secondary School; Nguyen Khanh Hien – Grade 6E, Pham Hong Thai Secondary School. In addition, the Union also awarded 11 Consolation prizes to the children who had participated in the contest.
