Meeting with Hanoi capital’s retired officials in culture and sports industry on the occasion of Lunar New Year Tan Suu 2021

This is a meaningful activity that is organized annually by the Department of Culture and Sports every spring. Attending the meeting were Mr. To Van Dong, the Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Mr. Tran Thi Van Anh, the Deputy Director of the Department, together with heads of departments, divisions and units under the Department. Especially, the former leaders of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the former heads, deputy heads of departments, divisions and units under the Department and many retired officials in the culture –sports industry from time to time were also present at the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. To Van Dong, the Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, on behalf of the Department’s Management Board, gave the best wishes to all retired officials on the occasion of the new year. He also shared about outstanding achievements of Hanoi city’s culture – sport industry in 2020. Specifically, in 2020, Hanoi culture – sports industry together with the whole city completed the tasks set out, especially the dual tasks, i.e. specialized tasks and pandemic prevention tasks.

In 2020, the culture and sports industry has continued to maintain the tradition of the industry, decisively and drastically developing the culture and building an image of elegant and civilized Hanoians. Hanoi still maintains its goal of gathering, summarizing and spreading cultural values. Thanks to the whole industry’s great efforts, the industry’s position has been increasingly raised among leaders as well as people. In particular, according to the report on the resolution of the 17th Party Congress of Hanoi City, culture is one of the striking contents to be highlighted and paid attention by leaders from the central to the city level. In 2020, despite the very complicated situation of the pandemic, the Cultural industry was determined to bring the City Party Committee’s program 04-CTr/TU on “Socio-cultural development, improvement of Hanoi’s human resources quality, and building an image of elegant and civilized Hanoians” into reality and achieved high results. The Department conducted propaganda on building an image of elegant and civilized Hanoians among households and living quarters. As the initial results, 02 codes of conduct, especially the code of conduct of civil servants, public employees and employees have been implemented efficiently. In 2020, there were few outstanding cases related to the conduct of civil servants, public employees and employees. Public behavior has been initially improved.

In the field of sports, in 2020, the complicated pandemic situation causes difficulty for the training and competition. However, in all contests participated by Hanoi sport teams, they all won medals and almost ranked first. The mass sports and physical training movement has developed quite extensively, especially at schools.

Up to present, Hanoi has basically finished preparing for SEA Games 31 and Para Games 11. The facilities of Hanoi and 11 other provinces are basically available. Hanoi’s athletes are also ready. Hanoi is committed to send 1/3 of the total number of athletes, expected to win 1/3 of the total number of medals of the country. Despite the pandemic situation, Hanoi was ready for SEA Games 31 in November 2021.

At the meeting, some former leaders of the Department of Culture and Sports also shared experiences and gave opinions so that the industry may continue to promote its strengths in the coming time. To be specific, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Cat, the former Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Information (previous) affirmed that in 2020, our country in general and Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, in particular, have overcome countless difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and its consequences thanks to the effort of all people under the leadership of the Party and State, including officials in the culture and sports industry. Our nation’s success in preventing the pandemic was highly appreciated and adored by the world. Mr. Nguyen Vinh Cat would like the leaders and all officials in the culture and sports industry to make the best efforts to increasingly bring into play the advantages and achievements and overcome the weaknesses and limitations to achieve even better results and accomplish the year 2021.

Mr. Hoang Vinh Giang, the former Director of Hanoi Department of Physical Education and Sports (previous) was also delighted at the achievement of Hanoi’s high-performance sport in 2020. Despite the pandemic, when participating in national tournaments, Hanoi sports team still shows its capability by winning 2,134 medals of all kinds. “In 2021 with a lot of difficulties, Hanoi sports team should make more effort because Vietnam is the host country of SEA Games 31. As the host country, we should prove our capacity in all aspects, not only high-achievement sports but also culture” – emphasized Mr. Hoang Vinh Giang.

The Department’s leadership and officials and employees in the culture and sports industry recognized the comments of the former leaders of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, and at the same time, extended their thanks and greetings to the retired officials who have greatly contributed to the development of culture and sports in Hanoi for many years.
