Opening Ceremony to the Karate Tournament within the 7th Sport and Physical Training Grand Festival of Thach That District in 2017

In celebration of the 63rd anniversary of the Liberation of Thach That District (July 13, 1954 – July 13, 2017) and memorial of the 70th anniversary of War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2017), the district’s center for culture, information, and sports held the opening ceremony to the Karate Tournament..

In celebration of the 63rd anniversary of the Liberation of Thach That District (July 13, 1954 – July 13, 2017) and memorial of the 70th anniversary of War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2017), the district’s center for culture, information, and sports held the opening ceremony to the Karate Tournament within the 7th Sport and Physical Training Grand Festival of Thach That District.

The Karate tournament is in the framework of the 7th Sport and Physical Training Grand Festival of Thach That District in 2017. It was held in 1 day, July 8, 2017, with the participation of 150 athletes from 10 clubs in several communes and towns.

In the morning of July 8, the athletes competed in 11 events including Male Individual Kata (13, 14, 15 years old), Female Individual Kata (13, 14, 15 years old), Male Individual Kata (10, 11, 12 years old), Female Individual Kata (10, 11, 12 years old), Male Individual Kata (7, 8, 9 years old), Female Individual Kata (7, 8, 9 years old), Mixed Team Kata, male or female (10, 11, 12 years old), Male Individual Kumite (7, 8, 9 years old), and Female Individual Kumite (7, 8, 9 years old).

In the afternoon, the athletes competed in 6 events including Male Individual Kumite (10, 11, 12 years old), Female Individual Kumite (10, 11, 12 years old), Male Individual Kumite (13, 14, 15 years old), Female Individual Kumite (13, 14, 15 years old), Male Individual Kumite (16 years old and above), and Team Kumite (13, 14, 15 years old).

The Karate tournament within the 7th Sport and Physical Training Grand Festival of Thach That District aims at continuing to promote the movement of mass sport and training activities following the example of Uncle Ho and is an opportunity for participants to exchange experiences, learn from each other, and strengthen the solidarity among themselves. At the end of the tournament, the Organizing Body awarded 17 gold medals, 17 silver medals, and 17 bronze medals to the winners.
