“The ancient civilizations hallmark” exhibition is the crystallization of the passion for the national cultural heritage in general and the Temple of Literature (Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam) in particular of young artists who are always concerned with preserving and promote the value of the heritage, continue the source of the national culture.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Tran Thi Van Anh said that the exhibition is one of many activities held at the Temple of Literature (Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam) in order to make this place a a center of cultural activities, a creative space of Hanoi City, implementing the policy of Hanoi city to join UNESCO’s Creative Cities network. “The ancient civilizations hallmark along with many other exhibition and display activities held at the Temple of Literature (Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam) will bring to the relic a new vitality, a new look. “It is the best way to promote the value of the monument, nurture love and respect for the precious heritage that our ancestors have left us, and also show the sense of responsibility of our ancestors to future generations in continuing to build up contemporary values for the nation’s cultural sediments,” emphasized Ms. Tran Thi Van Anh.

The exhibition displays 19 works by 8 artists created in many styles and materials with new writing styles on cultural values. Each work is a unique way of looking at the value of heritage, creating special emotions for visitors.

Specifically, the works of “Co Thu 1” and “Co Thu 2” by artist Vu Xuan Dong are composed on copper and lacquer boxes, as an open book on architecture, sculpture, festivals, river life, ancient patterns, old clouds and trees, etc., give viewers a reminiscence about the traditional values of the Vietnamese people. “Bong nuoc” by Pham Hung Anh shows another image of Khue Van Cac. Similarly, sculptor Nguyen Truong Giang’s solo work, with soldering iron, has shown a strong but equally soft and lively human image. Viewers can see in the work the silhouettes of Dai and Nhan characters, the noble values that the ancients often aim for, while, with acrylic and gold materials printed on canvas, author Nguyen Tuan Dung creates the image of Khue Van Cac and the Temple of Literature Gate helps us to see another beauty of the heritage…

Through the exhibition, viewers can understand more and deeply feel the cultural values of previous generations, which are saved for the present and future, thereby becoming more proud of the nation’s cultural traditions and motivating them in current life.

The exhibition lasts until the end of February 5, 2023 at the front house of Thai Hoc area, a special national monument of Temple of Literature.

During “The ancient civilizations hallmark” exhibition, from December 27 to January 8, 2023, at Thai Hoc area, there will also be a Workshop “Rubber engraving + unique watermark printing to welcome Spring 2023”. Activities towards professional and artistic exchange and connection of member painters in “The ancient civilizations hallmark” the exhibition in general, and at the same time connecting with painters who love prints and visitors to Temple of Literature relics to experience the art of printing in particular. In addition, the activity will also bring unexpected and interesting experiences that the space, time, materials and creative efforts of the participating members bring; At the same time, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere to welcome the Spring of 2023.
