People’s Artist Trung Hieu (birth name, Nguyen Trung Hieu), born in 1973, in Thai Binh (the son of famous photographer, Trong Phao). He is currently the Director of the Hanoi Drama Theater.

People’s Artist Trung Hieu started his acting career in 1992. He is known as a stage artist, film and television actor, drama director, voice actor, with excellent acting ability in both protagonist and antagonist. On the theater stage, Trung Hieu was successful in such roles as: Tran Binh in the play Vòng đời, Tong Thoai in Cát bụi, Phiet in the play Những mặt người thấp thoáng, Ly Thuong Kiet in the Tình sử ngàn năm, Deputy Director named Chinh in the play Tôi và chúng ta, Saigon Nam in the play Bỉ vỏ, etc. In cinema, People’s Artist Trung Hieu also made many impressions in the films: Hoa Ban đỏ, Duyên  nghiệp, 1 giờ làm quan, Thiếu phụ chưa chồng, Giải hạn, Hà Nội 12 ngày đêm… On television, People’s Artist Trung Hieu has participated in quite a few movies: Lập nghiệp, Cây bạch đàn vô danh, Sống mãi với Thủ đô, Đường đời, Cảnh sát hình sự (Mặt nạ hoàn hảo), Cuồng phong, Vệt nắng cuối trời, Heo may về qua phố, Quan trường trường quan, Ngày mai bình yên, etc. He has won many art awards such as: “Best Actor” award at the 16th Vietnam Film Festival, with the role of Cao in the movie Mười ba bến nước; the role of Ly Thuong Kiet in the play Tình sử ngàn năm; “Excellent Actor” award for the role of Phiet in the play Những mặt người thấp thoáng; Gold medals for the roles: Tong Thoai in Cát bụi, Tran Binh in Vòng đời, Saigon Nam in Bỉ vỏ, etc.

Whether on stage, in movies or TV series, People’s Artist Trung Hieu leaves his own mark by his simple, unpretentious acting style and always focuses on deepening the character’s inner feelings. Therefore, the name Trung Hieu has become a brand name, a bright face of an actor. When watching him act on stage or in the studio, the audience feels excited. He has been awarded the title of People’s Artist by the State authority since 2015 – is one of the youngest People’s Artists in Vietnam to this day.

In the artist’s life, with nearly 30 years in the profession, Trung Hieu has many memories. The biggest memory is when he took part in the role of the Year of Saigon, or when he acted Khang in the movie Duong doi, most recently the role of a father named Phat in the movie Ngay mai binh yen shown on VTV3 from August 12, 2021, on Thursday and Friday evenings, his name is imprinted in the hearts of the audience. Especially the fact that he and his actors in Ngay mai binh yen contributed to the propaganda about the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

In addition to his successful acting, People’s Artist Trung Hieu is also successful as a director…Many plays directed by himself have won medals at national professional theater competitions and festivals. Despite being busy with the role of Director – Secretary of the Hanoi Drama Theater, busy filming and acting, People’s Artist Trung Hieu also participates in many other activities such as: Being a judge of many competitions, passionate about calligraphy, art, music, etc. 

In the role of Director of the Hanoi Drama Theater, he and the Board of Directors of the Theater have turned their unit into the top theater of the Vietnamese theater. In the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Theater has mobilized resources to support the lives of artists, especially the organization of the Hanoi Drama Contest – Singing over COVID-19 to raise funds for the support of difficult artists. In addition, the theater also deducts a part of the fund to send to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Hanoi city to support disadvantaged people during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hanoi Drama Theater has been praised as one of Hanoi’s typical units in the prevention and control of COVID-19. After days of implementing social distancing in the spirit of Directive No. 16 by the Prime Minister, People’s Artist Trung Hieu and actors of the Hanoi Drama Theater are currently rehearsing a new play to attend the National Theater Festival in 2021, performing for the country’s political events, the Capital and the Lunar New Year in 2022.
