The People’s Committee of Hanoi City has recently issued Plan No. 151/KH-UBND on May 24, 2023, outlining the development of the rural industry in Hanoi for the year 2023.

The implementation of this plan aims to create conditions for sustainable development in craft villages, linked with the preservation of traditional values and the cultural essence of these villages. This initiative seeks to increase income for laborers and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the city.

The objectives for 2023 include the recognition of the titles “Craft Village,” “Traditional Craft,” and “Traditional Craft Village” for 15 craft villages in Hanoi. Additionally, it involves supporting 10 craft villages in building brands and establishing collective trademark ownership, initiating 6 vocational training classes, supporting 5 projects for the development of rural industries, organizing 50 training sessions to enhance production and business capabilities for craft villages, and disseminating policies encouraging the development of rural industries. The plan also includes organizing 2 working delegations to exchange experiences and connect raw material areas for craft villages in 2023, along with conducting the Hanoi Craft Village Product Exhibition in 2023. A comprehensive review and evaluation of the current situation, achievements, limitations, challenges, tasks, and solutions will be conducted until 2025 to drive the development of traditional crafts and craft villages in Hanoi.

To execute this plan, the People’s Committee of Hanoi is constructing specific content related to policy implementation, the application of science and technology, human resource development, propaganda, promotion, trade promotion, financial support, and the popularization of tax policies. Land allocation, land leasing, and environmental protection for craft villages, particularly focusing on the development and preservation of craft villages linked with experiential tourism and education, are also highlighted. The budget for implementing these plan components will adhere to the state management hierarchy and legal regulations.

The People’s Committee of Hanoi has assigned specific tasks to various city departments, sectors, and local People’s Committees of districts and towns to implement the goals and objectives for the development of the craft industry in 2023 within Hanoi city.
