Leaders of Tay Ho District received the National Relic Ranking Certificate for the memorial place of President Ho Chi Minh’s living and working at Ms. Nguyen Thi An’s house

Before the August Revolution in 1945, Phu Gia and Phu Xa villages (now in Phu Thuong ward, Tay Ho district) were among the particularly important revolutionary bases. Those places used to nurture and protect high-ranking Party leaders such as comrades Truong Chinh, Hoang Van Thu, Le Duc Tho, Hoang Tung, Bach Thanh Phong, etc. Our Party Central Committee confidently set up a printing base for the Liberation Flag Newspaper, a contact station with the establishments of the Regional Party Committee and Provincial Party Committee throughout the country there. Xu wharf (Phu Xa) was also an important traffic hub connecting the two northern and southern regions of the Red River in the Safe Zone of the Party Central Committee. Hundreds of local people were always ready and enthusiastically volunteered to take part in ferrying and ensuring absolute secrecy and safety for many high-ranking Party leaders in moving to carry out revolutionary activities across the Red River area. Not only that, Phu Gia and Phu Xa were also places where revolutionary movements developed strongly, especially after the Japanese coup d’etat, those places held several mass rallies in middle island of the Red River.

Leaders of Hanoi city presented congratulations flowers to Tay Ho District.

On August 23, 1945 afternoon, when President Ho Chi Minh returned from Viet Bac War Zone to Hanoi via Xu Wharf, he went to Ms. Nguyen Thi An family’s house in Phu Gia village (now Phu Thuong ward, Tay Ho district) to live and work until August 25, 1945. This was also the place where he directly worked with comrade Truong Chinh – General Secretary of the Party and comrades Vo Nguyen Giap and Tran Dang Ninh on the results of the National General Uprising, in order to draft the Declaration of Independence which gave birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

In 1946, An’s family and the people of Phu Gia and Phu Xa villages were once again honored to welcome him back. Here, President Ho Chi Minh had a working session with officials of Phu Thuong commune and Lang Bac district to prepare for a long resistance war against the French. Since then, Ms. Nguyen Thi An’s house has been preserved intact precious memories, relics, artifacts and many priceless documents and images related to President Ho Chi Minh.

With those important historical events, on December 3, 2021, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to rank Ms. Nguyen Thi An’s house as a national monument.

The art program “Phu Thuong imprinted with footprints of our Great Father” recreated the image of President Ho Chi Minh on the relic in 1945.

At the reception ceremony, Chairman of Tay Ho District People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khuyen, emphasized: Receiving the National Monument Ranking Certificate for the old lady Nguyen Thi An’s house is both a pride, a responsibility and ceaseless effort of the Party Committee, the government and the people of Tay Ho district in general and Phu Thuong ward in particular in regularly renovating and embellishing revolutionary historical landmarks in the area in order to arouse the spirit of patriotism, pride and national pride for all Vietnamese people. This will be an important premise for the Party Committee, authorities and people of Tay Ho district to continue preserving, and promoting the historical and cultural values of the revolutionary relics, bringing these sites to truly become typical cultural heritages to be actively sought, visited, and learned by all people, especially young people; become places for commemoration, incense offerings, public announcements of collectives, units and socio-political organizations in the area, contributing to building Tay Ho district to soon become a service, tourism and culture center of Hanoi capital.

On behalf of Ms. Nguyen Thi An’s family at the ceremony, Mr. Cong Ngoc Dung expressed his pride when his family was honored to welcome President Ho Chi Minh and high-ranking delegate of the Central Government to his family’s house during a pivotal moment in the country’s history. He would like to thank all levels of Party committees, authorities, and all people of Phu Thuong ward for always caring, facilitating and working with his family to preserve the house, thereby contributing to spreading patriotic tradition and pride to all classes of people.
