It is only less than 20 days to ASIAD so the team is in the sprint phase. For speed racing such as athletics, bicycling, etc., the coaching staff has begun to push the limits to achieve near-term achievement in the official tournament and to adapt to the strength of each athlete to score the highest achievement in ASIAD.

Shooting courses such as shooting, archery are reinforcing techniques, focusing on improving professional and mental strength, psychology in competition. In this particularly important period, the major taekwondo athletes, shooters are training and competing in Korea; archery competition in Taiwan; Karate in Iran and the athletics team had a good training at the Ho Chi Minh City International Athletics Championship.

Talking about the opportunities of Vietnam Sports at the 2018 Asian Games, Mr. Tran Duc Phan said: “At present, we are aiming to have a Olympic sports to achieve high rankings. By reviewing all athletes of participating countries, we realize that to achieve the goal of 3 gold medals, Vietnamese athletes will face many difficulties.

Because ASIAD is the arena of the world, the Olympic sports are the sports of the world, it is very difficult to win gold medal at this Asian Games. Accordingly, our athletes must do their best to be able to achieve.”

ASIAD 18 is the Asian Games in which Viet Nam is crowned with a record number of athletes and according to the targets, Vietnam focuses on Olympic gold medals such as athletics, weightlifting, shooting, archery, swimming, bicycle. Special martial arts are also highly sought after such as taekwondo, karate, wushu, silat, kurash, jujitshu, boxing.

Hoang Xuan Vinh is expected to win the gold medal in shooting

Based on the actual assessment, the sports that Vietnam is most likely to win medals at ASIAD 2018 is athletics, swimming, gymnastics, shooting and weightlifting. The hope of the Vietnamese sports that can win is: Hoang Xuan Vinh (shooting), Nguyen Thi Anh Vien (swimming), Thach Kim Tuan (weightlifting), Le Tu Chinh (athletics) … Two consecutive years winning the Asian gold medals (2017, 2018) in the female’s long jump, Bui Thi Thu Thao is expected to bring Vietnam the ASIAD gold medal for the first time.

ASIAD 17, Vietnam with 199 athletes in 21 subjects, has 11 subjects in the final round and also won only one gold medal by Duong Thuy Vi in wushu, not worth the expectation.
