Implementing the Prime Minister’s Directive on social distancing, “which house is in that house” to prevent and fight against COVID-19 pandemic, accompany with runners to keep their performance through the pandemic and especially to cheer and honor Physicians – the “ White-blouse Angels” who are working day and night at more than 20 frontline hospitals against COVID-19 nationwide, VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020 and 84RACE will conduct the online run for the first time: “Home marathon in support of White-blouse Angels to win the COVID-19 pandemic”.
VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020 decided to conduct a Home marathon to support to the White-blouse Angels to win the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In the decisive period, when it is necessary to join hands of the people of the whole country to win the pandemic, the Prime Minister’s request for” Which house is in that house “is not only an order, but has become a very close slogan for every Vietnamese people. The Prime Minister’s statement inspired VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020 to decide to conduct a Home marathon to support the White-blouse Angels in order to win the fight against COVID-19, considering it as how we join hands with the people of the country to fight against pandemic again. This will be the first online run to be held with full distance and award structure for both men and women like a professional marathon”, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Hanh – Managing Director of Duc Huong Anh Co., Ltd., the owner of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020, said.
The online run tournament “Home marathon – Supporting the White-blouse Angels to win the COVID-19 pandemic” has three basic goals: Responding to the Government’s appeal “stay at home and social distancing” so that the epidemic will not spread; encourage sports practice at home to reduce boredom, increase fitness and immunity; provide financial support, show respect and encouragement, and relieve the pressure for the physicians at 20 frontline hospitals to treat COVID-19 firmly with patients who have won the pandemic.
A home marathon is a first-time online run championship that requires runners to complete distances like a professional Marathon at each run. Runners will have to connect their accounts on Strava before running. Each person needs to complete their chosen distance in one run (5km, 10km, 21km and 42km) at home or in the area around their house during the tournament period, ensuring the correct “which house is in that house”.
Nguyen Dat – the first Vietnamese to complete the marathon (42.195km) on the terrace of Hanoi to cheer for the demand for social distancing during the pandemic.
The biggest challenge of this firstly organized online run is that each participant needs to complete their chosen distance at home or in the area around their home within the time of the tournament, ensuring the correct “which house is in that house” according to the Government’s directive spirit.
To increase chances of competition, as well as encourage runners to practice regularly, the Organizing Committee allows participants to run multiple times during the challenge. The Organizing Committee will select the best performance of each runner to rank the competition when the tournament time is over.
It is known that the program takes place from April 8, 2020, to the end of April 22, 2020. The registration period is from April 2 to April 15, 2020. With the structure and list of Awards what are not only complete but also very valuable and interesting for runners such as Garmin dedicated sports watches, specialized running sets of the famous brand Xtep, etc.
In particular, it is even more meaningful when each participating runner donates VND 500,000 for the activity “Supporting the White-blouse Angels to win the fight against COVID-19 pandemic” and all this money will be transferred to the frontline hospitals for treatment of COVID-19 nationwide to assist physicians to overcome the pandemic with confidence.
To thank the runners for this activity, the Organizing Committee of VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020 decided to give each participant 01 free-running BIB at any distance of the tournament on October 18, 2020. The VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020 has been jointly organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the Vietnam Athletics Federation, the People’s Representative Newspaper, and the Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank). The tournament is currently part of the national competition system and has been selected as one of the ASEAN sporting events to celebrate the year that Vietnam assumes the role of the rotating presidency of this regional association.
