A century has passed but the Russian October Revolution has remained one of the most important events in the history of Russia in particular and of the world in general.

“The Russia October Revolution shook the world, shattered a great deal in the imperial capitalist system, and opened up a new era in human history” said Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Party, in his speech at the 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution.

With the success of the October Revolution, the predictions of the founders of Science Socialism had become reality on 1/6 of Earth’s total land mass. For the first time in history, the working class had risen to seize power with an aim to build an entirely new society. A new state in the form of soviets was formed and was considered by Lenin to be the highest form of democracy for workers and farmers – a new kind of democracy.

The success of the October Revolution together with the birth of the Soviet Union, founded by Lenin, fundamentally changed the fate of the Russian people, transforming Russia from a pre-capitalist feudal state of poverty and backwardness into a leading economic, political, military, scientific, technical, cultural, and educational superpower, turning the masses of workers and farmers from slave status into masters of their own country and society. Russia’s role and status in the international arena was constantly improving.

The success of the Russian October Revolution had fueled the international communist and worker movement, paving the way for the births of many communist parties and parties of workers in other countries, and forming a widespread international movement. The Revolution was the pioneering movement in the struggle of humanity for noble ideals, national independence, democracy and socialism.

Just as President Ho Chi Minh had affirmed, “Like the bright sun, the October Revolution shines through the five continents, waking millions and millions of oppressed and exploited people on Earth. There has never been a revolution in human history that has such great and profound significance. ”

… Vietnam celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution in the context of our country witnessing the busy days in the implementation of the Resolution of the 12th National Assembly and the resolutions and conclusions of the Central Committee of the Party. The whole political system has put its great efforts into the implementation and is moving in a positive direction. The Party has issued, led, and directed the effective implementation of many critical resolutions. The Government is taking a drastic action to implement the resolutions and guidelines of the Party. The National Assembly is undergoing strong reforms, welcomed by voters and people throughout the country. Many specific policies and actions of the Party, the State, and the Government have recently received support by the masses of officials, party members, and people. The people are also demanding and expecting for even better results under such implementation.

With the spirit of the Russian October Revolution and the August Revolution as well as the will of Vietnam, the new determination, new impetus, new vitality, and strong faith in the strength and the will of the Party and the people and in the bright future of the country, we firmly believe that we will successfully implement the renewal process for a prosperous, strong, democratic, equitable, and modern Vietnam, and for surging ahead to socialism.

At the anniversary, Mr. Nguyen Hong Vinh, Vice President of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association, said, “As people who were able to, from the very beginning, enjoy the education of the new regime, we became increasingly aware of the noble and inevitable consequences of the October Revolution. Without the October Revolution in Russia, there would have been no August Revolution in Vietnam which, in turn, delivered the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Without the noble ideals of the October Revolution, the great achievements of the people of the Soviet Union could not have been made in more than seven decades of socialist construction. Without the dedicated support of the Soviet Union for the construction and defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, our generation would have not been lucky to come to the homeland of the October Revolution, the land of the great Lenin, to study and research, and to receive knowledge on advanced technology in many fields that would become valuable treasures to us when we returned to the homeland, effectively helping us in serving for the construction and development of the country.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Vinh, Vice President of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association

Representing the young generations, Deputy Secretary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Branch of the VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ms. Ta Thi Bich Ngoc, expressed: “…time has passed, but through historical books, footage, and stories told by the older generations who have studied the history of Russia, today’s young generations today have come to understand the stature, historical significance and great value at the time of the Russian October Network to our struggle for independence, freedom, and social construction.

We understand that the success of the Russian October Revolution had sparked the light of Marxism – Leninism, inspiring the passionate patriotism, strong willpower, and desire to contribute to the independence, freedom, and unity of the country, and to the realization of revolutionary ideals of generations of young people in Vietnam.

Each phase in history and the achievements of the revolution of Vietnam in the past nine decades have been marked by the generous sacrifices of generations of Vietnamese youth who have devoted their youth, wisdom, strength, and even their lives for the independence of the nation and for socialism.

The 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution is an opportunity for young people to learn more deeply about the great Russian October Revolution, to reaffirm the heroic history of Vietnam, and to show respect and gratitude to the Party, our beloved Uncle Ho, and to many preceding generations who have sacrificed and devoted their life, strength, and wisdom for the young people of today to live a life of peace, prosperity, freedom, and happiness.”

Ms. Ta Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Branch of VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The Russian October Revolution was one of the greatest historical events of the 20th century, marking a new milestone in the history of mankind. The success of the Russian October Revolution led to the birth of the first socialist state, first dictatorship of the proletariat in history, greatly encouraging the national liberation movement of colonial countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. For Vietnam, in particular, the Russian October Revolution had shown the path of national liberation and marked the beginning of the great encourage and support from the Party, State, and people of the Soviet Union to the revolution in Vietnam.

In the 87 years since the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam, our country has transformed from a semi-colonial semi-feudal country into an independent and liberal country in the socialist direction, our people have turned from slave status into masters of the country and the society, our nation has come out of the status of poor and underdeveloped nation and is accelerating its industrialization and modernization processes with open international relations and growing importance and reputation regionally and globally. The brilliant achievements of the Vietnamese revolution were heroic successions of the ideas and goals of the October Revolution.

Even with the world’s constant changes, the October Revolution will always remain a fascinating milestone and bright symbol of the aspirations and powers of socialism. The valuable lessons and experiences from this great revolution are still of great value to the cause of reform, construction, and defense of the socialist fatherland of Vietnam.
