The contest aims to introduce and promote the potential and beauty of Vietnam’s seas and islands to a large number of the art-loving public at home and abroad; communicate achievements, honor typical examples in socio-economic development and protect the country’s sovereignty over sea and islands.

The contest is chaired by the Central Communication Department, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, the National Border Commission (under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands (under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) and implemented by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.

The contest is open to all professional and amateur photography artists, Vietnamese citizens living, working, studying at home and abroad; foreigners living, working and studying in Vietnam. Successful entries need to reflect the potential and beauty of Vietnam’s seas and islands; love of the homeland, the country, the attachment of generations of Vietnamese people to the sea and islands of the Fatherland; reflect the atmosphere of enthusiasm and determination in labor, production and combat activities of officers, soldiers and people in sea and island areas; a sense of responsibility and spirit of readiness to fight to preserve and protect the country’s sovereignty over sea and sacred islands.

In addition, the successful entries can reflect the socio-economic development achievements of coastal localities after 35 years of the country’s renovation and international integration; reflect activities of exploiting and developing Vietnam’s sea tourism potential; preserve and promote the unique cultural values ​​of the marine community, the typical handicraft products of traditional craft villages in each sea and island; environmental protection of sea and islands; preserving the natural marine ecosystem, contributing to promoting the sustainable development of the marine economy on the basis of green growth; ensure the harmony between conservation and socio-economic development of the entire sea area and islands; international cooperation on the sea, promoting joint efforts to ensure security, peace and stability for sea areas in the face of traditional and non-traditional security challenges at sea.

In addition, the works can praise typical examples in socio-economic development and in the protection of the country’s sovereignty over sea and islands.

The photos participating in the contest are composed by realistic methods, not assembled, edited by computer software, taken from January 1, 2019, to present, can be single or set, color or black and white photos.  In which single photo: each photo is a work; set of photos: each set of photos is considered a large work, consisting of 5-8 photos (attached to the maket of the set). Each author or group of authors is allowed to submit up to 10 single or set of photos. Participants submit photos for the contest directly at the website: www.anhnghethuatbiendaoquehuong.com, from now until the end of September 30, 2021.

The Communication Department of the Hanoi Party Committee proposed localities, agencies and units to direct, organize information, communicate contests and exhibitions, and mobilize cadres, party members, members and people to actively participate in the contest.

The contest aims to introduce and promote the potential and beauty of Vietnam’s seas and islands to a large number of art-loving public at home and abroad. Also, it is a practical opportunity to encourage artists, photography lovers to create many new works, valuable in content and art, effectively serving the communication as well as the cultural and spiritual life of the people.
