On the morning of October 7, 2022, the Party Committee – People’s Council – People’s Committee – Fatherland Front Committee of Son Dong commune solemnly held a ceremony to receive the National Monument Certificate of the cluster of monuments of Mang Son Temple, Son Trung Communal House and Son Dong Communal House. Attending were representatives of leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Hanoi Department of Tourism; Leaders of the Standing Committee of the Town Party Committee – People’s Council – People’s Committee – Fatherland Front Committee, departments, divisions, agencies of the town, leaders of 15 communes and wards, and a large number of people from Son Dong commune and tourists from all over.

Reception for the National Monument Certificate of the cluster of monuments of Mang Son Temple, Son Trung Communal House and Son Dong Communal House

The cluster of monuments of Mang Son Temple, Son Dong Communal House and Son Trung Communal House are religious monuments erected by the people of Son Dong commune to worship Saint Tan Vien, one of the leading saints of the “Four Immortals” religion in Vietnamese mind. This is also the center of cultural activities of the community for generations. Among those three monuments, Mang Son temple plays the most important role. It has long been known as the Southern Palace which is one of the five important places of worshiping Saint Tan Vien in the land of Tan mountain – Ba Vi, in which the main palace is located at Thuong temple on top of the sacred mountain of Ba Vi, the remaining four palaces are placed in four directions and Mang Son temple is located in the South. The Mang Son Temple Festival is held on January 7 to commemorate the merits of three Saints of Tan Vien Mountain…. 

Mang Son Temple

Mang Son Temple still preserves many precious relics such as: Stone stela created in the 7th year of Canh Hung (1746); two “Nghe” with art style of the 17th century; The ordination, throne, tablet, incense bowl, and horizontal lacquered board existing from the beginning of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century… Along with Mang Son Temple, Son Dong Communal House and Son Trung Communal House were built to create a cluster of common religious works of the locality. The two monuments own the architectural art style at the end of the Nguyen Dynasty…. 

Considering the cultural and historical values, on April 15, 2022, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 891/QD- BVHTTDL on the ranking of national monuments of Mang Son Temple, Son Trung Communal House and Son Dong Communal House.

The cluster of monuments of Mang Son Temple, Son Dong Communal House and Son Trung Communal House are national historical – architectural monuments with missions to educate patriotic traditions and preserve many cultural values – national heritage.
