In order to preserve and promote the cultural identity of Muong group in Minh Quang commune, on May 06, 2017, the Minh Quang commune People’s Committee coordinated with Tan Vien pagoda to hold the 2nd Muong Language Speaking Contest in Minh Quang commune 2017. The contest witnessed the attendance of Mr. Dinh Que Hai – Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, Mr. Hoang Thi Le – Deputy Director of the National Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, Mr. Nguyen Tat Vinh – Chairman of the City Committee of Ethnic Minority Affairs, Mr. Do Manh Hung – Vice Chairman of the District People’s Committee, Mr. Ngo Thi Bich Thao – Head of District Party Committee, leaders of some industries of the district and 7 communes in the mountainous area.

There were 6 teams from 6 villages of Dam San, Moc, Dy, Coc Dong Tam, Vip, Lat participating in the 2nd Muong Language Speaking Contest in Minh Quang commune 2017. Those team must compete in 3 parts: greeting, knowledge test and talent test. With careful preparation and hard work in leaning the cultural identity of Muong group, the participating teams introduced to audience great amount of unique knowledge about the Muong group, including handicrafts, costumes, origin of the Muong Minh Quang people, wedding customs, traditional dishes …

The 2nd Muong Language Speaking Contest in Minh Quang commune took place successfully, at the end, the team of Lat village won the first prize, the team of Vip Village won the second prize, the team of Moc village won the third and the others got incentive award. The 2nd Muong Language Speaking Contest in Minh Quang commune was a useful playground for Muong people in Minh Quang commune to cultivate their traditional culture and language, as well as time for cultural activities to preserve, promote the traditional cultural identity of the Muong ethnic group in Ba Vi district. On this occasion, the National Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs has presented gifts to seven mountainous communes and teams participating in the contest./.
