According to information from the British Embassy in Vietnam, the UK Festival will unfold over the weekend of September 9-10 at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, Hanoi. This event marks the commencement of a series of celebrations in Vietnam, commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and Vietnam.

The festival will serve as a platform to showcase British culture, products, and commercial expertise, while also honoring the fruitful collaboration between the UK and Vietnam over the past five decades. A highlight of the event is the performance by the 911 band and Vietnamese artists such as My Anh, Orange, DJs Johnny Hong Mao, and MinDaniel on Hoan Kiem walking street at 7:30 PM on September 9.

911, an international band originating from the United Kingdom, once captivated the hearts of audiences from the 70s and 80s with legendary hits like “How Do You Want Me To Love You,” “A Little Bit More,” “Don’t Make Me Wait,” and most notably, “I Do.”

This pop band, comprised of three members – Simon “Spike” Dawbarn, Lee Brennan, and Jimmy Constable, was formed in London in 1995. After disbanding at the end of 1999, the group has reunited several times and resumed activities with the original lineup since 2012.

In 2023, the Vietnamese netizen community was abuzz when this once-idolized band collaborated with singer Duc Phuc to release the MV “I Do”.

The UK Festival will also feature various enticing activities, including booths showcasing top educational programs in the UK, exhibits of consumer products, healthcare services, financial services, leading projects and technologies in renewable energy, reflecting the commitment of both nations to a greener and more sustainable future.

Following Hanoi, the UK Festival will travel to Ho Chi Minh City on September 16 and Da Nang on October 16.
