During the past years, determining the importance of universalizing swimming skills and prevention of kids’drowning accidents, Cau Giay district has stepped up the generalization of summer swimming classes for primary and secondary basic schoolers; at the same time, actively mobilized all resources humanly and physically to carry out the strategy of improving the knowledge and skills in the prevention and protection of children’s drowning accident, helping them with a safe childhood.

In order for work of teaching and learning how to swim effectively, the network of swimming polls located at schools has been further invested with a view to step by step turning swimming into a basic subject of physical eduation at schools. At present, in the district’s area, there are 27 swimming pools, in which 06 of them have been built at the public schools, 07 at academies and non-public schools. This is the fundamental condition for the development of the swim aimed at improving people’s health, enhancing the expertise of drowning protection and prevention.

Since 2007, the district has annually organized swimming classes for children during summer occassion which take place at schools’ swimming pools or the others built under the socialized form and located in the wards’ area. Through the universalized swimming programme, thousands of children aged from 9 to 14 have gained access to practice and known well at least one swimming type, hence equipping themselves with skills in drowning protection and prevention, minimizing the risks whenever contacting waters.

Also at the ceremony, the People’s Committee of Cau Giay district has tasked the Section of Education and Training to collaborate with the Centre of Culture – Information and Sports to hold a swimming course for 500 pupils who have not been able to swim at the primary and secondary schools in the area; assigned the wards’ Peoples’ Committee to review, compile a list and then organize the universalized swimming class in favour of about 50 – 100 kid per ward in between 04 June till 29 July, 2019.
