The fundraising program named “Bicycles carrying pink dreams” was conceived and implemented by Tot Dong Commune Youth Union from August 28 to September 5, 2021, with the desire to raise funds to buy 12 bicycles for disadvantaged children in 12 villages in Tot Dong commune. Due to the complicated development of the Covid-19 pandemic, the program faced many difficulties and could not mobilize socialization resources, the Youth Union of Tot Dong commune “redirected” to raise funds through participating in making and selling bread & Vietnamese spinach sticky rice balls by young people.

Only on the first day of launch, the program received the attention and support of a large number of people with 50 loaves of bread and more than 105 servings of Vietnamese spinach sticky rice balls sold. Many households in the commune have given away cucumber and papaya ingredients for free to process sticky rice balls and sell to get money to buy bicycles for children.

Mrs. Dang Thi Phuong Hang, the Secretary of Tot Dong Commune Union shared: “With the form of sales on social networks and the meaning of the program “Bicycles carrying pink dreams”, we have received very positive support. Although the pandemic situation is complicated, everyone is having a hard time; they are all excited about the goods that young people sell. They did not give bicycles to students on an opening day, but the program achieved more than expected results, raising an amount of VND 10,259.000, especially with the support by Mr. Huy Bien, who sponsored 10 bicycles for the program.

It is known that this is the third time Mr. Huy Bien in Ben village has participated in supporting the volunteering activities of the commune’s Youth Union. Previously, Mr. Huy Bien donated VND 10 million to the Youth Project to repair and upgrade houses for Mr. Nguyen Trong Duong – a poor household with extremely difficult circumstances in Ben village; and donate VND 30 million to the “Green kitchen” of the commune to cook meals to donate to checkpoints in the area.

This is a meaningful gift for the children in the new school year, thereby contributing to motivating them to always be obedient, study well, and strive for high academic achievement.
