The delegation of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports led by Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Member of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, visited Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Vinh Giang and offered condolences to his family.

Prof. Dr. Hoang Vinh Giang – Labor Hero, Elite Citizen of the Capital, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, former Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of Hanoi city.
With his whole life of dedication to the cause of Sports in Vietnam, Hanoi, he has left a great legacy for Hanoi and Vietnam Sports with the policy of “Shortcuts, taking the lead, taking women as the leader”; created generations of golden athletes of Vietnam and Hanoi Sports in the World and regional sports arenas, prominently in the SEA Games arena 22 – Vietnam 2003 with the first place of the whole delegation, is a push to create a breakthrough for the development and international integration of the whole Vietnamese sports industry, in which Hanoi Sports plays a pivotal role in the national sport.
He has gone forever, leaving infinite mourning for his family, brothers, and teammates and generations of students and athletes; it is the great loss of the family, of the Vietnam Sports Industry in general and Hanoi in particular.
During his work, he has held many different positions; however, regardless of his position, he left his mark with bold, creative, drastic decisions and won a lot of love and attention from coaches, athletes, associations, sports federations in Hanoi, in the nation and the World Federation of Traditional Martial Arts, contributed to enhancing the image and prestige of the capital and the country in the international arena.
The Party Committee, the Board of Directors of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, generations of managers, coaches, and athletes in Vietnam and Hanoi will forever remember, cherish and be grateful for his affection and dedication to the cause of building and developing the capital’s physical training and sports; boundless mourning for an example of labor, dedication to Vietnamese Sports until the last moment.

After the representatives of the family and comrades attended the memorial ceremony, they went around the casket to bid farewell to Assoc. Prof. Dr., Labor Hero of the renovation period, Hoang Vinh Giang, the funeral ceremony, and the coffin was moved to the hearse and sending Hoang Vinh Giang to his final resting place.
Assoc. Prof. Dr., Labor Hero in the renovation period, Hoang Vinh Giang, born in 1946, permanent residence: P504, 17 T1 Trung Hoa – Nhan Chinh, Hoang Dao Thuy street, Hanoi. During his sports career, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Vinh Giang used to hold the positions of Director of Hanoi Department of Physical Education and Sports, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation, Vice Chairman of the Asian Olympic Council, Vice Chairman of the Southeast Asian Sports Federation, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association, Head of Vietnam’s sports delegation for many SEA Games, Asiad, and Olympic Games. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Vinh Giang was awarded the Second-class Labor Medal by the State, the 40-year Party membership badge.
In addition, he was also honored to be awarded the Second Class Labor Medal by the State of Laos; conferred the title of Labor Hero in the renovation period for his contributions to Vietnamese sports; awarded the title of Elite Citizen of the Capital on the occasion of the 1000th Anniversary of Thang Long Hanoi; awarded an international prize by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for his many contributions to the development of the Vietnamese Olympic movement in particular and the international Olympic movement in general, etc. Due to his old age and weakness, he passed away at 1:00 p.m. on September 11, 2021 (August 5, Tan Suu year), at the age of 76 years old. The burial ceremony of Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Vinh Giang was held on the same day of September 18, 2021 at Lac Hong Vien cemetery, Ky Son district, Hoa Binh province.
