VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021 sets a new race date on December 26, 2021.

VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021 was initially scheduled to be held on October 24 but had to be delayed to December 26, 2021, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is a running race in the competition system of the Vietnam Athletics Federation and has a record used to select 200 candidates to run in the companion movement at the 31st SEA Games.
First held in 2018 as the Hanoi International Heritage Marathon, the race immediately attracted nearly 3,000 runners and running enthusiasts in Vietnam and around the world.

In 2019, the city government declared this run to be the “Official Hanoi International Marathon”, part of an effort to put the event on the map of major races in the world, alongside the world championships marathons in Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London, New York and Tokyo. The number of athletes participating in the competition has doubled to 6,000 from more than 50 countries and territories.

In 2020, Vietnam holds the ASEAN Chair, and the Race has been selected as the official marathon of the ASEAN Chairmanship 2020, launched with a new name: “VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020”.

VPBank Hanoi Marathon is a big and official marathon of Vietnam held annually in October in Hanoi. The race was supported by the Hanoi People’s Committee and selected as the city’s only official marathon event with a thousand-year history. VPBank Hanoi Marathon has been recognized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), has the official certification of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and is affiliated with the Vietnam Athletics Federation. The marathon becomes an official member of AIMS 2019.

Hanoi city has just allowed outdoor sports and fitness activities to resume after more than two months of social distancing to prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic. And on September 28, 2021, people in the capital were allowed to go outside to practice with the condition that 5K is adhered to and no gatherings of more than 10 people are allowed. This is good news for the Race Organizing Committee and runners who are optimistic about the new normal life.
