Although successful at the end of October 2020, Longbien Marathon – 6th season, due to the influence of the pandemic, could not take place in the autumn in Hanoi but had to be postponed to…. winter to avoid Covid-19.
The Longbien Marathon 2021 is postponed to 12/12.
According to the Organizing Committee of the Longbien Marathon, 2021 is a difficult year due to the unpredictable and dangerous developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, all of society’s resources are focused on pandemic prevention and control. Most of the tournaments in Vietnam have to be paused and wait until the pandemic situation is stabilized so that crowded sports activities can take place safely. Faced with this situation, Longbien Marathon 2021 will also not take place on schedule on October 31, 2021.
Longbien Marathon is organized annually by the People’s Committee of Long Bien District – Hanoi in conjunction with other units.
Up to this point when the Covid-19 was basically under control in Hanoi and after more than 2 months of social distancing, the People’s Committee of Hanoi City has just allowed people to do outdoor sports again with the condition that there are no more than 10 people gathered and it is required to strictly adhere to the 5Ks rule and other COVID-19 prevention and control measures by the Ministry of Health.
With this permission, after working with local authorities and authorities, the Organizing Committee of Longbien Marathon has announced a new running date, expected to be December 12, 2021. After giving a new running date, the organizers will continue to work with local authorities and authorities to hold the tournament on the right day in safe conditions.
However, the Organizing Committee also said that in case of unfavorable pandemic conditions or other force majeure reasons, the date of Longbien Marathon 2021 will be moved to 2022.
Longbien Marathon is an annual running race held for the first time in 2016, in Hanoi capital. This is a non-profit tournament organized to achieve the goal of developing the running movement in Vietnam, creating a healthy playground for running enthusiasts throughout the country, and turning Long Bien district into a destination every the end of the year and positioning the local brand at the running village across the country.
