Spread love is an annual campaign launched by the Institute of Sustainable Development, in 2017. In 2021, the campaign will be carried out with the theme: “Non-violent education”, focusing on improving awareness of parents, carers, teachers, stakeholders and the public on eliminating forms of physical and mental punishment for children; creating a safe and positive environment for children to express their opinions and solve problems related to them; promote non-violent educational methods in the raising children.

The media campaign “Home = Safe + Loving?” was launched from August to September 2021 with the desire to accompany parents and caregivers in properly perceiving and taking action to completely end domestic violence, especially against children. At the same time, the unit has collected opinions of children and families to contribute to the draft Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence (amended) – a law project is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and will be submitted to the National Assembly for approval in 2022. In the return of the COVID-19 pandemic and its complicated developments, the campaign is expected to become a gift, a source of spiritual encouragement to families to overcome the period of social distancing together.

Within the framework of this campaign, the organizers also launched the contest “Family in my eyes” and received the active participation of nearly 100 children across the country. The topics chosen by the children are very diverse such as images of happy families, domestic violence from the perspective of children, children’s dreams of a peaceful home.

Based on the criteria of aesthetics, creativity, message content, spread and popularity of the community, the jury selected excellent paintings, awarded 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third prizes and 10 Consolation prizes.

Regarding the review of the contest, Mr. Khuat Van Quy, Deputy Director of the Family Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) commented that the children’s paintings, despite the very small and innocent drawings and ideas, convey very warm and human messages as well as hope for a happy family. Through the pictures, we can see the wishes of the children, thereby motivating state management agencies, organizations and related agencies towards building a happy family as their wishes.

Mr. Quy also said that the Family Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is making efforts in implementing Directive No. 06-CT/TW in 2021 by the Secretariat on strengthening the leadership of the Party regarding family building and drafting the Draft Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control (amended). We hope that we can receive many comments from the parties to work towards building a complete and comprehensive legal document, contributing to building safe and happy homes for childre
