In the morning of July 19, at the cultural house of Dong Rang Village, Dong Xuan Commune, Quoc Oai District People’s Committee held the opening of the gong training course for representatives of ethnic minorities in Dong Xuan Commune and Phu Man Commune.
Attending guests at the training course were representatives of leaders of the district’s People’s Council and People’s Committee, representative of the district’s cultural and information center, representative of Dong Xuan Commune, and members of the gong teams of Dong Xuan Commune and Phu Man Commune.

At the opening of the training course, the gong teams of Dong Xuan Commune and Phu Man Commune performed some attractive and enticing gong stages such as “Taking the road”, “White Flowers – Suffering Flowers”, “Dooy dey”, “Loong 3”, and so on.
At the training course, Mr. Bui Thanh Binh, Muong People Folklorist, Director of Museum of Muong People’s Cultural History, directly presented the characteristics of Muong gongs and the close ties between the gongs and the cultural life of the Muong people. Participants were also instructed on the main melodies delivered by the gongs, techniques, chords, method of performance, and ancient gong songs of the Muong people.

In her speech at the opening of the training course, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Vice Chief of Office of the District People’s Council and People’s Committee, expressed her wish that with the support of the District Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee, the participants will take the time to fully participate in the course to acquire knowledge about gong performance. The localities shall provide more support to help participants achieve promising results.
The training will take place in 90 days. At the end of the training course, there will be examination and evaluation of the learning results of the teams through practice of gong performance.
Through the training, participants will learn the gong playing techniques and get a deeper understanding of the Muong gongs to be more proficient in playing gongs and to be able to teach their children to play gongs in order to contribute to the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural identity of the Muong poeple in Quoc Oai District.
