A week-long film festival commemorating the 79th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 – December 22, 2023) will take place from December 22-28, 2023 throughout the country.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued a Decision assigning the Cinema Department to assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with the People’s Army Cinema, National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio One Member Company Limited; Vietnam Animation Joint Stock Company; Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company; Department of Culture and Sports; Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Center for Film Distribution and Screening; Cinema Center, Culture – Cinema Center, Culture – Arts Center, and Cultural Center of provinces and centrally run cities in organizing a Week-long Film Festival to Celebrate the 79th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 – December 22, 2023) throughout the country.

The films selected to be screened in this Film Festival include “Rose Squad” produced by People’s Army Cinema; documentary films “Citadel on the Sea” and “Benefactor of the American Soldier” produced by National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio One Member Company Limited, “Faith” produced by People’s Army Cinema, animated film “Paradise Guava Tree” produced by Vietnam Animation Joint Stock Company, “Mother’s Heart” produced by Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company.

Film “Rose Squad” tells about soldiers in peacetime, especially young female officers being trained in a military environment, thereby highlighting the beauty of young soldiers with their humorous stories about love and camaraderie. Phuong Chi, a young female army reporter, began her military training days with excitement and nervousness. Her initial confusion and embarrassment gradually disappeared thanks to the care and sharing of lovely teammates like Tu, Hoa, and Thanh. The young girls went through strenuous training exercises and days of arduous marches together. In addition to the camaraderie, there are feelings of love and affection that Phuong Chi has for Hoang, the Company Commander. “Rose Squad” was scripted by Captain Pham Hoai Thuong, directed by Captain Nguyen Quang Quyet, and played by young actors such as Dao Hien Thuc Anh, Nguyen Thi Kim Dung, Khanh Ly, Phuong Nam…

The film festival will take place from December 22-28, 2023 nationwide.
