Agreeing on the content of the Hanoi – Toulouse (France) Cooperation Project for the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long

Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism agreed on the proposed contents in the document of Hanoi – Toulouse cooperation project on technical assistance to conserve, manage and promote the value of typical urban heritages and archeological relics at the World Cultural Heritage Thang Long – Hanoi Imperial Citadel.

For the Project’s components related to archaeological exploration, excavation, preservation, restoration, and exhibition of artifacts, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests the People’s Committee of Hanoi to direct the project owner to implement processes and procedures in accordance with the law on cultural heritage.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism provides opinions for the People’s Committee of Hanoi to direct functional agencies to take the next steps in accordance with the law.

Previously, on March 16, 2020, the People’s Committee of Hanoi issued the Document No. 899/UBND-KH&DT to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to request an appraisal of the Hanoi – Toulouse Cooperation Project: Technical assistance for conservation, management and promotion of the value of typical urban heritage and archaeological relics at World Cultural Heritage Thang Long – Hanoi Imperial Citadel. The project’s objectives are to mark the sustainable cooperation in the cultural heritage field between Hanoi and Toulouse, in particular, and the Vietnam-France friendship, in general; and demonstrate the determination and investment of Hanoi city for the world heritage.

Regarding the components, the two sides will transfer recording, archiving and statistical techniques for historical and archaeological documents using specialized software; support the implementation of a scientific and cultural project at the positions at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the archaeological site located at 18 Hoang Dieu and the gallery in the archaeological area; provide support and advice on architectural structures to promote the value of archaeological site at 18 Hoang Dieu (located in the west of Thang Long Imperial Citadel).
