On the last day of the Vietnam weightlifting team at the 2020 World Weightlifting Cup, Hoang Thi Duyen won 3 more gold medals to help the Vietnamese delegation finish the tournament with 10 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Hoang Thi Duyen continues to compete successfully in the New year

Hoang Thi Duyen is the last athlete of the Vietnam weightlifting team to compete in the 2020 World Weightlifting Cup in category A of 59 kg for female. In the snatch section, Hoang Thi Duyen achieved 92 kg, 95 kg and 97 kg respectively, far exceeding the best performance of 89 kg of 9 competitors. In the clean and jerk section, she achieved the best achievement of 116 kg and finally gained a total of 213 kg, thereby winning all three gold medals, more than the second-ranking of the host named Alemanno up to 16 kg.

Hanoi weightlifter Vuong Thi Huyen won 2 bronze medals at the 2020 World Weightlifting Cup.

On the first day of competition, Thach Kim Tuan (men’s 61 kg category), Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan (55 kg), Vuong Thi Huyen (women’s 49 kg category) and Khong My Phuong (women’s 45 kg category) were the athletes helping the Vietnam weightlifting team have a favourable start. Thach Kim Tuan and Nguyen Tran Tuan Anh, each athlete brought back 3 gold medals. The remaining gold medal of Vietnam in the first day of competition belonged to Khong My Phuong in women’s 45 kg category in snatch section (45 kg) and 2 silver medals (82 kg)in clean and jerk section and total weight (155 kg).

In the women’s 49 kg category, Hanoi’s athlete Vuong Thi Huyen participated and won 2 bronze medals in clean and jerk (100 kg) and total weight (181 kg, an increase of 9 kg compared to the overall record at the SEA Games 30 ). This is an encouraging achievement for Vuong Thi Huyen when she had to compete in the 49 kg weight category because of the 45 kg weight category that she had won a gold medal at SEA Games 30 not included in the competition program of the 2020 Olympic Games.

Thus, with 3 gold medals of Hoang Thi Duyen, it contributed to the Vietnam weightlifting team to win 10 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

The 2020 World Cup in Rome, Italy from January 28 to January 29 is the Olympic qualifying round for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Thach Kim Tuan, Vuong Thi Huyen and Hoang Thi Duyen all have good achievements and are in the top 3, thereby gaining more points in the ticket competition to Tokyo. The qualifying round will end at the end of April with the Asian Championship. The eight top weightlifters in each weight category will win direct tickets to the 2020 Olympic Games.
